Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent accommodation in great location
We stayed in this apartment for a week and can only say how great it was. Enough room for our stay and very clean and modern. The most outstanding feature is the location, a short walk into Shanklin and the most amazing veranda looking out to sea from the cliff top. We were lucky enough to have hit sunny weather which allowed us to make the most of it. There is also plenty of on site parking which can be scarce on the IOW. Excellent stay and highly recommend

Great find in the Isle of Wight
A wonderful retreat for couples or single travellers with lots of home comforts, a very helpful owner and absolutely stunning views - try to catch the sunrise over the sea - what a breathtaking sight. Lovely personal decking and wonderful communal garden.

Wonderful apartment with a fantastic sea view
The apartment is lovely, beautifully decorated, spacious, spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we needed. The view from the lounge, and the outdoor terrace overlooking Shanklin and the sea is just perfect. Loads of off road parking. It is right on the coastal path. It is up a steep hill so just take note. Great communication wit the owner also. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay.

Excellent holiday accomodation
This appartment deserves all its great reviews. Modern, comfortably furnished with a good firm bed, comprehensively equipped, and scrupulously clean, with stunning views from its large, eastward-facing, wood-decked balcony. The Priory development is first class, with the converted historic building set above landscaped private gardens leading down to the cliff edge , and ample off road parking. The Priory is the last building on the road that leads only to Luccombe village and is part of the coastal walking trail, so there is virtually no through traffic and the setting is very peaceful. To access the beach it is necessary to walk down to Shanklin Chine, a pleasant stroll down but hard work coming back up! but that is the price of the magnificent views over Sandown Bay. Our first visit to Wight, which we found delightful. We will certainly return, and know what will be our first choice for accomodation.

Excellent Modern Apartment
Very clean & well equipped apartment. Generous size for two people, with a large balcony overlooking the sea. There is also a nice garden, accessed by slopes & steps. The flat is all on ground level (just two small steps outside the door). It was immaculately clean when we arrived. There is off-road parking just outside. Its located right on the Costal Path, and is only 10-15 min walk into Shanklin (although its a uphill slope on the way back !!) There's plenty of kitchen equipment, and the gas heating combined with double glazing seems very efficient. The bathrooms fine with a shower over the bath - the only thing we missed was a shaver socket. Overall - a great place to stay.

Our Stay At No 5
Just spent a week at this beautiful apartment, wonderful views from the large balcony, the apartment was very clean and well furnished with easy access to Shanklin and all other parts of the island, we would recommend this apartment which is ideal for a couple, we are in our seventies and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Hope to one day come back again to No5.

About the neighbourhood
The coastal resort of Shanklin is located at the south east corner of the Island at the southern most tip of Sandown Bay. The town is well served by the railway, which connects to the high speed ferry terminal at the top of Ryde Pier, allowing easy access to the mainland and London. There are also regular bus services to the Islands principal towns. Shanklin has long been a location for family holidays, with a safe sandy beach and clear waters. The bay is sheltered from the prevailing wind by Dunnose Point, which is a stunning backdrop, with the tall cliffs of Luccombe and St. Boniface Downs beyond. Looking out to The English Channel across The Bay, views extend around to the white cliffs of Culver and Bembridge Downs. By the beach there is crazy golf, children's amusements and car parking. A lift provides easy access to the cliff tops, where the views are even more spectacular, so the less energetic or disabled people don't have to climb the steps. The seafront is a real attraction for visitors to the town, with a wealth of eating establishments. There is a bus service which provides a regular service through the summer months to the town centre and Old Village. Shanklin is most famed for its good weather and the pretty Old Village, which is located on the south side of the town, towards Ventnor and Bonchurch. The village is extremely pretty and most tourists head to the area for the thatched cottages, quaint shops and old fashioned tea rooms, which not only offer cream teas, but sea food specialities and attractive surroundings. In the heart of The Old Village are several pubs which are attractive and provide good food and a great venue for a lively evening. Just past the entrance to The Crab Inn is the start of Shanklin Chine, a deep gorge carved out by a stream, which is a restful and picturesque place to spend the morning or afternoon. In the evening the waterfalls and woodland are illuminated, giving the gardens a totally different aspect and atmosphere.
