About the neighbourhood
Le Breuil and the chemins. The local farm tracks (chemins) are great if you like to walk or ride bikes. There is very little traffic except for farm vehicles and the locals. Often you will meet fellow walkers and cyclists. From our farm one chemin will take you to the main Thouars road, another is a nice flat 2k walk or ride to the next farms and the third is a pleasant, meandering, 10 minute walk down to Le Breuil. This is a typical sleepy village with a church, Mairie, the obligatory hairdressers and the bar/restaurant. The bar is the centre of village life with people dropping in and out for a coffee, wine, beer, or just to pass the time of day with the owners, Harry and Marie. Budget Airlines: Easyjet, Flybe and Ryanair. Ferries: Brittany ferries from Portsmouth, Plymouth, Poole. Check out ferrysavers.com for cheaper options. Train: Nearest TGV stations are Angers and Poitiers. Substantial discounts may be available if you book far ahead - why not fly to Paris CDG and train to nearest station?
