Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Practically perfect
Peaceful location. Very comfortable cottage with excellent facilities. Excellent communication from the minute we booked. Judy and Jules made us very welcome. Ideally situated for walks, bike rides and drives to local attractions. Just up the road from train station for easy link with Aviemore . Simply a home from home

Fantastic cottage in a beautiful location
We had a fantastic week in Sundowner. The cottage is really comfortable and well-equipped, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Judy and Jules were very welcoming and friendly, and are a mine of local information. There is so much to do in the surrounding area, although it was sometimes hard to leave the cottage! There is plenty of space for a family of 4 (two kids aged 11 and 13) and little touches that make your stay even more enjoyable, such as DVDs to watch, as well as lots of maps and information about activities in the area. Our kids loved the table tennis room and having access to a washing machine was invaluable after long, muddy walks. We will definitely return to Sundowner, we can’t recommend it highly enough for a peaceful break in a stunning location.

5* home from home
This fantastic cottage is within a very short walk of Ruthven Barracks. The Highland Park is another local attraction, as well as the beauty of everything that is the Cairngorms. Sundowner is a beautiful cottage we have had several great family holidays in both Sundowner and it’s next door neighbor Spindrift Cottage. Jules and John are wonderful hosts, lovely touches of flowers, shortbread and fresh raspberries welcome you. Lovely to sit on the deck and watch the local bird life on the feeders. So good we’re back for Christmas and New Year.

EVERYTHING IS FIRST CLASS, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
The cottage is situated in the countryside just outside Kingussie. The view from the patio doors onto the decking at the front is peaceful with sheep grazing in the field, birds feeding at the feeders. Even a pheasant tapping at the patio doors looking for food for 2/3 minutes. The cottage itself it absolutely beautiful with everything you need and more being supplied so there is no need to bring essentials with you other than clothes, food (if you wish to) and of course yourself. It is immaculate and well set out. There is plenty of outdoor activities and is only 15 minute drive from Aviemore with its steam and funicular railway. Judy and Jules are friendly, welcoming and oversee every aspect of keeping the cottages to the high standard they have. I would recommend these cottages to anyone wishing to holiday in this area as I have said in my title EVERYTHING IS FIRST CLASS.

Highly recommended
This cottage is easy to get to, being close to the A9. It's within walking distance of Kingussie, which we rather like. Ruthven Barracks is just over the road, for evening strolls. The Rothiemurchus Estate, with all its lovely paths for walking and cycling, is within easy travelling distance. The Highland Wildlife Park is well worth a visit. The Cottage itself is beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. It has everything you need, and more. We liked opening the doors onto the veranda and enjoying the fresh air while sitting comfortably on the sofa. There is a wonderful area of grass which was great for our little boy to run around on.

Perfect stay
Our first time in the Cairngorms and Sundowner proved to be the perfect base. The cottage is really well laid out and equipped with everything we needed. Our two boys particularly enjoyed the table tennis. Easy walking distance from the village, we mainly self-catered, and the excellent butcher's and Co-op meant we didn't need to travel further to shop. Lovely walks straight from the cottage and many more within a short driving distance. There are so many things we didn't have time to do - I am sure we will be visiting again.

A perfect place to discover the Scottish Highlands
For a first visit of Scotland we were lucky to find the Sundowner Cottage. After a night on the ferry (Zeebrugge-Hull) and a 6-hour car trip (Hull-Kingussie), we reached the magnificent landscape of Cairngorms: already a taste of holiday... Last mile: we can appreciate the view on the stunning "Ruthven Barracks", just next to our final destination. The cottage is pretty and comfortable, it seems to be brand new. There is a large garden with lovely bird feeding cages. And tennis table for the kids, extremely useful for the rainy afternoons! The region is perfect for walking and running, our favourite activities during the holidays. A lot of circuits are possible directly from the cottage (not necessary to take the car). Last but not least, the owners offer a warm welcome and a lot of useful advices. You can see they fell in love with the Cairngorms region, and they transmit their passion to the visitors. If we come back to the Cairngorms, we know where to go!

Perfect stay at Sundowner Cottage
Ideal location to explore the Cairngorms and surrounding area......on bike, foot or car. Cottage is perfect in every way, even having your own little private area to sit out and watch the wildlife. Wonderful to come back to after a long day on the mountains, as it's so homely. Excellent hosts in Judy and Jules, so friendly but not obtrusive at all. I would definitely return and cannot rate Sundowner highly enough.
