Holiday Rental House
Beautifully renovated 300 year old farmhouse overlooking the Dyfi Estuary and stunning welsh countryside. With the Dyfi Osprey Project just over the river, together with Ynys-Hir RSBP Nature Reserve, the house has a special attraction for all bird lovers. Kites, Herons and if you are luck an occasional Osprey can often be spotted soaring over the garden. We have provided everything from fluffy towels, herbs and spices and pasta, to a basket of logs to help you enjoy your stay here. The house has loads of charm from family antiques, local art and photographs, to furniture that we have renovated in keeping with the heart and soul the house. The garden has a wood-burning Chiminea for cooler nights watching the sun go down and a large barbecue for summer nights. Glan-y-Morfa is accessed down a well-maintained farm track, so you are definitely 'off the beaten track', but only 10 minutes walk across fields and Talgarth Woods is the Plas Talgarth Country club, which has a great snug bar( Y Garth) and restaurant . By car the house is only 15 minutes drive to the glorious beaches and coves on the Estuary and the delightful seaside village of Aberdyfi. Going inland for 15 minutes is Machynlleth; full of interesting junk and vintage shops, as well as a great weekly Market selling fresh local food and crafts. There are numerous walks and bike trails up in the mountains and the notorious Cadair Idris Mountain for the more adventurous. Although all around the area there are numerous walks for all levels. We have plenty of maps and books in the farmhouse for you to plan your day. As dog owners ourselves, we welcome dogs (we even have spare bowls for them), but please be aware that the house is surrounded by farmland and the garden is fenced and gated. Nevertheless all dogs need to be kept under control at all times. The house has 2 large double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom and 1 bedroom with full-sized bunk beds. A travel cot can be put up by request. The upstairs bathroom has a toilet and shower. The 2nd bathroom downstairs has a bath, shower and toilet. The large family kitchen with table seats 8, plus there is a separate dining room that also seats 8 people. A comfortable sitting room has 2 sofas and a Jotel open log burner. There's a TV, blue tooth speakers, hi-fi, plus numerous books and maps about the area. At the back of the house is a utility/games room with washing machine and Tumble dryer plus a drying rack for wet clothes and a muddy boots rack. Bikes can also be stored safely here, as there are some great mountain trails up in the mountains. If you want to stay in we also have a table football and a 'Safe' darts board, together with numerous outdoor games: badminton, boules, and quoits. We also have a high chair and full child-proof fire guard. The house is well stocked with a variety of family board games and cards. No smoking permitted in the house. More

I was looking for a quiet, comfortable cottage for my wife and I to spend some time with my sister and her husband. I found Glan-y-Morfa overlooking Dyfi Estuary. I was first attracted to this property because 55 years ago I spent 4 weeks at...More

Thank you for your lovely comments. The house was a family home for many years and we have tried to keep that unique character - but without the day to day clutter. You had really rotten weather for your visit, but I'm glad that it...More

Despite being remote and literally off the beaten track, Santa managed to find Glan-y-Morfa. This idyllic farmhouse, built in the 1700's, retains all its old-world atmosphere (2 Inglenooks fireplaces) yet has been completely modernized. You can move in and want for nothing. The kitchen has...More

This has been our fifth stay here and it never ceases to amaze us. We absolutely love this cottage and the location. If we could afford it and if it was for sale we would HAVE to live here permanently. The owners have thought of...More

It was our second visit to Glan y Morfa which is an exquisite farmhouse with stunning views of the Dyfi Estuary. There was plenty of room for us all (6 adults and 1 child) and never once found that we were under each other’s feet....More

So glad you had a good holiday. You certainly had some amazing weather. I'm not a bird watcher, but I always feel I should recognise more of them especially in the evening when they seem to swoop and dive over the garden. We hope you...More

About the neighbourhood
Overlooking the River Dyfi, Glan-y-Morfa is surrounded by breathtaking views all round. Within easy reach of the renowned peak Cader Idris, the fabulous beaches of Aberdovey and the Market town of Machynlleth.
Getting around
I think a car is essential, but if some of your group are coming by train the nearest station is Machynlleth. Trains come from Shrewsbury, Abersystwyth and Birmingham New Street.
