Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Outstanding location; even better cottage
Without a doubt, the coziest, most lovely stay in Scotland! The host is incredibly gracious and the cottage is the best kept one I've ever stayed at. I cannot recommend Roe Deer Cottage enough!

Excellent accommodation in an excellent location
We had a very comfortable and enjoyable week at Roe Deer cottage. The cottage was lovely, spacious, very well kept, in a great location with amazing scenery. Great additional touches with welcome basket from Elaine. local soap products (thank you!), and lots of information provided about things to do, local surroundings, services and places to eat and drink. A great place to stay to explore the area, and so many walks to do, lochs to view and mountains and wonderful places to take in! Glencoe nearby and Fort William a 20 min drive.

Excellent cottage in a great location
We spent two weeks at Roe Deer Cottage and from the moment we arrived it was perfect. Elaine was very welcoming and helpful, the cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed. There was a lovely tray of treats and the Highland Soap Co products were very much appreciated. The views from the cottage are amazing and it is so peaceful. There are plenty of local walks it is also a great base for hiking the Glencoe munros ,exploring the Fort William area and Oban. We also managed a trip to mull after a recommendation from Elaine on the best ferry routes to take. One of the best self catering cottages we have stayed in, would return and certainly recommend.

Perfect Accommodation
Roe Deer Cottage was the perfect get away in every way. Loads of space to park & easy access to the property as the lovely owner meets you there & shows you round. It smelt beautiful & was spotlessly clean in every room. No expense has been spared & even the hand soap & creams match & are high quality. We didn’t have good weather for the week we were there but it was a pleasure to spend time in the cottage. When the sun did come out briefly, it’s great to sit out on the picnic table provided & look at the hills whilst enjoying a drink. I didn’t want to post this review as I don’t want the cottage to be constantly booked up for when we want to go back but it’s only fair that Roe Deer Cottage & it’s lovely owner, get the credit they deserve. We will be back!!

Relaxing stay at Roe Deer Cottage
We recently stayed for a week at Roe Deer Cottage. Booking with Elaine was very easy and straightforward. From the outset she was friendly and helpful. On arrival, we felt really welcome and the cottage was very clean, warm and homely, with a couple of essentials and treats provided All the utensils, fixtures and fittings are like new and great quality. During our stay, Elaine was kind and helpful and no one could be a better host. The cottage is peaceful and surrounded by some of Britain's most dramatic and beautiful scenery. Thank you to Elaine for a wonderful and relaxing break and hope to see you again soon. Best wishes, Ruth and David

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location
This was our second stay at Roe Deer Cottages in North Ballachulish and probably one of our best holidays ever. The cottage is beautifully clean and furnished with everything you could possibly need, with real care and attention to detail. Elaine was on hand with a friendly welcome and was there if we ever needed anything. The cottage is just a few miles away from the spectacular Glencoe and Rannoch Moor, and with many other beautiful locations within easy reach it’s a great base for exploring the area. A five minute walk from the cottage takes you to Bishop’s Bay which is quite magical on a still summer’s evening with the mountains reflected in the loch.

Cozy cottage in a great location!
We had a very nice stay at Deer Roe Cottage. It's located just outside of Glencoe, so very close to some great hiking (Devil's Staircase is particularly good!), restaurants (we loved the Loch Leven Hotel just down the street) and grocery shopping. There were four of us -- two adults and two children -- and the cottage was the perfect size. Elaine was very responsive and met us when we arrived. We'd happily return!

Excellent cottage
We spent 7 nights in this wonderful cottage. We have never been to a cottage with such a good service and friendly welcome. Elaine provided a lot of children things and was very helpful during our stay. The area is great and the landscape astonishing - hotels and bus stops are close by if needed.

A wonderful cottage in a glorious part of Scotland
This an outstanding cottage in which to relax and use as a base from which to explore this stunning area. We were not blessed with great weather during our week long stay, but this did not stop us from enjoying the amenities of this beautifully appointed cottage, and we got out for some glorious walks and car drives when we could. We received a very warm welcome from our hosts who, living next door, would have been on hand if we had had any problems, but we didn't! There is a well-stocked Co-op for groceries a few minutes drive away in Ballachulish, and the Craft Centre in Glencoe Village has an excellent café. The small museum in Glencoe Village is well worth a visit if you are interested in the local history, as is the Glencoe Visitor Centre, from which you can take a number of signposted walks.

Beautiful
I came here in January with my parents and son. Firstly the location is fantastic, with hills to the rear of the cottage and mountains to the front. You are about a 10 minute walk away from the Loch Leven Hotel, which serves fantastic food and Scottish lager (Mungo), I can highly recommend the Venison Steak, which my dad really enjoyed as well and the Scottish beefbuger went down a treat with my mum and son. Fort William is around a 30 minute drive away, which has all the necessities, Morrisons etc and Glen Nevis Visitor Centre about a further 1.5 miles away if you intend to climb Ben Nevis via the mountain track. The cottage is lovely and Elaine who runs the place is very helpful. The first impression you'll get is how nicely decorated the cottage is and it's cleanliness. You have everything here, dish washer, washing machine, good size fridge freezer and oven. The settees in the living room are electricly operated so you can put your feet up. There is a adequate size TV with the basic channels and a few more and in the cupboard below the TV there are plenty of dvd's for you to watch. My son and I were in the second bedroom, which has it's own toilet, shower and bath and I found the bed comfortable enough. Make no bones about it, this cottage is lovely, I would certainly return, so I can highly recommend it.
