A lovely place to stay. Beautifully presented throughout. Peaceful and private set in a beautiful garden. Homemade scones and jam on arrival were a real treat, after a long journey. A gold star to Joy and John. Will definately visit again !!

We had stayed at the adjoining property (The Getaway) in the past and were delighted to find that The Escape was free for the dates we required. About the neighbourhood
The county town of Lewes, has historic connections with Simon de Montfort and the English Civil War. It has a medieval Castle and Priory and was the home of Anne of Cleeves, wife of Henry VIII.
Lewes has a good selection of interesting independent shops and restaurants. Especially worth a visit are Harveys Brewery shop with Brewery tour and Bills restaurant in the Cliffe High Street.

The Bonfire night celebrations on November 5th are world renowned. The fancy dress processions and Fireworks are a sight unrepeated in England.
Lewes Artwave festival is late August - early September annually.

Ringmer village has a small shopping centre near the village green, with an dependant butchers and bakers and also an small spermarket. Waitrose and Tesco can be found in Lewes.
