Culross, Fife, Scotland
Culross in Fife is a unique survival, a village( town) which time has passed by; the most complete example in Scotland today
of a Burgh of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

Fabulous scenery is a draw to walkers or to those who prefer a gentle stroll. A friendly, slower pace of life which is ideal for a relaxing break.

The village is ideally situated overlooking the Forth Tributary on which the Forth Bridge, Forth Road Bridge, the Kincardine and the Clackmannanshire Bridge all form crossing points from Fife to Edinburgh (10 miles) and Glasgow beyond ( 40miles) There is also good motorway links close by leading to the North eg; Perth, Aberdeen and Inverness. Which makes us a good base for sight-seeing, and quick access to the Highlands.
If golf is a must - we are within easy commute of many courses - Glen Eagles and St. Andrews...

This was a lovely studio apartment, so central to everything around Fife and beyond. Gail and Donald are excellent hosts and Donald is a mine of information. Totally recommend staying here and plan to go back ourselves.

Culross is a superb preserved 15-17 century village, once busy with industry, now a quiet retreat, with beautifully restored street and houses, and the lovely Culross Palace as a centrepiece. Several good cafes, and the Red Lion is a good pub for evening meals (booking a good idea!). The Tanhouse studio flat has absolutely everything for a perfect stay, including...

Tanhouse Studio was perfect for what we needed, it is beautifully and fully fitted out with everything you could need it made things so much easier for us traveling with a 6 month old. Gail and Douglas were very helpful and so accommodating. Overall the studio was an excellent place to stay and had the most amazing views.

About the neighbourhood
The village lies on the banks of the river Forth and is situated approx. half way between the The Forth Bridges and The Kincardine Bridge. A985

Many period dramas have used our village setting in their productions and it is easy to imagine 'how things must have been like' in the 1700 with the cobbled streets and quaint little windows and doors.

However, the Studio Flat is comfortable and warm and the decor is modern and stylish.

How to get there
Dirctions are signposted by Tourist BROWN signs from the roundabout (a) Longannet Power Station - Kincardine (West )
or the roundabout (b) Carneyhill (East)
Both roundabouts situated on the road A985

Once in the village from either direction follow the sign for the Abbey ( uphill any road) Driving past the stone Cross and on the hill ( or Brae) our high wall end with a T junction where the Tanhouse Brae meets Erskine Brae.
Our double brown driveway gates are on the left just past the turning on Erskine Brae

The Tanhouse Brae is so named after our house.

A warm welcome awaits you!
