Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Just What We Needed
Gifted as a 40th birthday present along with some added extras. We arrived and were greeted by Rachel, she showed us around and located us to the utility room. The views from The Hut are stunning. As foodies we took advantage of the local pubs, restaurants and cafes all of which were great and the locals are friendly. Eyam village is a short walk away from The Hut. We explored the history of the Riley family and went on some great walks, it helped that the weather was beautiful. The Hut is such a cute getaway, an opportunity to relax and enjoy some quiet time. Everything has been thought of. We will definitely visit again x

Stunning
The hut was absolutely stunning, so clean and cosy. Rachel made us feel really welcome, but also left us alone to enjoy our stay. There were lots of little details that made it extra special, like hand made blankets and gorgeous scented candles to burn. It rained for the majority of our stay but it didn't matter, it sounded lovely on the tin roof and the log burner inside the hut kept us warm and cosy. Honestly cannot recommend this enough. The hut was amazing, the views were stunning and everything was just lovely from start to finish.

Absolutely perfect
We had the best time here! The hut was so lovely, comfy and cosy and the surroundings really beautiful. We got the celebration basket with prosecco and cake which was such a highlight! Rachel was such a lovely host and the town and walks around are fantastic. Would hugely recommend. Thank you so much!

Such a cosy getaway!
We stayed here for one night for my birthday and it was such a cosy, hidden gem! There's lovely walks, pubs and views around the whole area and I really cannot fault it. So much time has gone into making the hut homely and welcoming! :)

Lovely, quiet little spot, with the personal touch!
Rachel made us feel very welcome, and the hut was very cosy, with the personal touch (flowers, blankets, woodfire, umbrellas, shutters). We loved to watch the lambs in the field next to us, as well as the golden pheasants (a real discovery!), from the tree house! It was such a quiet little spot, and we loved every minute! This was a real anniversary treat, and we'll definitely be back!

Cosy and peaceful stay for our anniversary
We had an amazing trip to the Hut Eyam, the hut was superbly decorated and the breakfast, cake and beers were a welcomed treat! It was all set lovely for us to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and we couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful and cosy setting. Eyam is a great little village and the recommendations certainly helped us out a lot. Everything we wanted and more, and of course meeting Gilbert the dog was an added bonus. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

Best nights sleep in ages!
What can I say about the hut with a big heart. We had the most relaxing time here! So peaceful, beautiful locations and the best two nights sleep we’ve had in ages. The hut itself was beautiful. Lovely and clean, with plenty of thoughtful little extras. Lots of attention to detail and all you need for a relaxing, romantic getaway. The local village, Eyam, is a surprising little gem too that is quiet, but popular with quite a bit to do in the most wonderful way. We would definitely love to come back in the future.

Haven that is Eyam and the little green hut
Well if you want to try a different sort of weekend away, or Monday to Friday for that matter, this is for you! My wife Fabienne asked me if I fancied staying in a shepherds hut on our 30th wedding anniversary!( I've got used to these sort of requests over our 30 years together) so I just sort of go with it, and you know what I sort of worked out it wasn't that wacky after all! Certainly original and yea it was an opportunity to try life in a caravan and one from 'yesteryear.' I remember fondly me and my older brother being taken on holidays in a static caravan on a camp in Rhyl, North Wales in the 1960's. Mom had tragically been widowed after dad's road accident. We loved the time spent in the little caravan, oh such bliss, blazing sunny summers by the sea! The little green hut recaptured those times....small but secure with love abiding overall and golden pheasant visiting our garden hilltop Kingdom. Oh and the little lambs following mom and mom feeding them In the field below as we observed from the vantage point of our platform in the tree. We were delighted to return last evening from the delightful friendly haven that is Eyam and a veritable feast at the recommended 17th century Miners Arms( thanks Rachel such good advice). We arrived back at the hut, festooned with light, fired up the woodburner and enjoyed the warmth it supplied as we drifted off to sleep, serenaded by the birds and occasional hooting of the owl. Dawn awakened us with the heart shaped twink of light through the wooden shutters. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast of homemade yoghurt and fresh bun topped with (damson?) jam, fresh orange and a nice cup of tea. The shower suite up at the top of the garden in its little outhouse so clean and fresh towels provided. We travelled down the hill, parked the car in the free large car park and went into the museum housed in a former methodist church featuring the history of the plague and how the villagers had heroically responded. I was greatly affected by this. There is Eyam Hall along the way, but only open April and October, otherwise for wedding functions. We finished up parking up back at the Mariners which was hosting a vintage car convention, we observed their arrival from the tea room at the entrance as we tucked into the excellent fayre, which was ham Cheese and Spinach, apricot on rustic bread, Fabienne had the cheese and cream quiche, both served with delicious salad. We're coming back again, maybe for the festival which is a tradition here and the village is a hive of festivity on 27th September. We loved this place and so glad we found it and thanks Rachel for your hospitality.

Great weekend or short stay retreat!
Eyam is a quaint and historically very interesting village. If it's on your radar to visit, then I suggest you might like to make use of The Hut, a delightful, well equipped and cosy shepherd's hut at the bottom of a large garden with great views over the valley and the village. The Hut is within easy walking distance of Eyam which is great if you don't wish to drive. A tasty breakfast is included in the deal, but other meals, unless you wish to BBQ, need to be sourced elsewhere. Friendly hosts Rachel and hubby Haydn have a list of recommended eateries and we tried their personal favourite which was spot on! The Hut is wonderful for relaxing and enjoying the bird sounds and we were particularly impressed by a stunningly beautiful Japanese Pheasant which visited us from the neighbours! Eyam is also very well situated with regard to other neighbouring Peak towns and walking routes. So if you enjoy history and the great outdoors, this is an ideal place to use as your base.
