Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Great weekend or short stay retreat!
Eyam is a quaint and historically very interesting village. If it's on your radar to visit, then I suggest you might like to make use of The Hut, a delightful, well equipped and cosy shepherd's hut at the bottom of a large garden with great views over the valley and the village. The Hut is within easy walking distance of Eyam which is great if you don't wish to drive. A tasty breakfast is included in the deal, but other meals, unless you wish to BBQ, need to be sourced elsewhere. Friendly hosts Rachel and hubby Haydn have a list of recommended eateries and we tried their personal favourite which was spot on! The Hut is wonderful for relaxing and enjoying the bird sounds and we were particularly impressed by a stunningly beautiful Japanese Pheasant which visited us from the neighbours! Eyam is also very well situated with regard to other neighbouring Peak towns and walking routes. So if you enjoy history and the great outdoors, this is an ideal place to use as your base.

Extremely disappointed
We booked to go here as a minimoon following our wedding in November. Due to snow conditions today this was unavailable. In the T&C’s on the emails it clearly states all monies would be return in this instance and the hamper is included in the price. However there was a deduction of £75, after this was questioned I was met with hostility and the argument deposits are not refundable and the hamper had been bought so needed paying for, and then how I was being unreasonable for not considering a small business, Additionally sent me revised T&C’s adding in the ‘unavailable’ clause that they could deduct this, which I am absolutely astonished a company can be so underhand to a customer all in the attempt to justify holding my money back. I advised that as they had offered me a different weekend (which I couldn’t do) they still had the opportunity to recoup the full £275 from that weekend I was offered, again hostility that they were out of pocket. I was sent £50 more but told they would not refund the remaking £25 for the hamper. I understand conditions were out of their control but their T&C’s clearly prescribed the course to follow in this eventuality and they have breached that and are still withholding my money and I am made to feel as though I am being unreasonable.

Feeling so very sad… As the snow fell here, it started to become apparent that we were in for a big dollop of the white stuff. With a minimoon booking in for the weekend, we felt it was only fair we pre-warn them of the adverse conditions. On Thursday eve, we sent photographs & explained we are on a hill but if the car was left at the bottom we could sledge their bags up. So far so good. But opening the curtains Friday morning & with police & severe weather warnings in place for our area of the Peak District it was obvious for the guests to travel could threaten their safety. We didn’t have to, but we contacted them to explain the situation & sent more pictures. Our offers to rebook or take a voucher to use at a later date we’re declined saying all their annual leave for the year was already being used. How quickly can kindness go wrong! A refund due to exceptional circumstances was the only option. Our t&c’s are very clear in the website at time of booking & have MOST DEFINITELY NOT been changed as accused. An exchange of text messages ensued & we (Thehuteyam) finally agreed to compromise after explaining the bad weather was neither parties fault. We issued a full refund for their stay £200 initially, & an additional £50 for the deposit, goodwill on our part as deposits are normally non refundable but can be used towards an alternative stay in the future. A celebration hamper had also been requested. This is not included in the standard price but an additional £25. We had already bought the perishable contents & therefore we were not in a position to refund this too. After several aggressive texts from the guests, we were threatened with a review to be posted & they would be “going on Facebook & instagram too”. We appreciate the disappointment of plans changing, we were disappointed that they were unable to come too, but our best intentions & goodwill was abused & the situation very quickly turned into an ugly debacle by a guest who became bullying & threatening. We pride ourselves on being accommodating & nothing but professional. Thankfully our 285+ 5 star trip adviser reviews & 125+ 5 star Airbnb reviews are testament to that. Our t&c’s are clear to see on the website, these HAVE NOT been changed to suit the situation. In 10 years of welcoming people to our little green hut, we have never experienced such unreasonable & upsetting, aggressive & bullying behaviour •For clarity of our future guests, we would always try & rebook a stay cancelled due to circumstances outside of our control. Failing that, a refund would be issued, minus 20% deposit as per our clear t&c’s. Breakfast baskets are included in the standard booking, celebration hampers are an addition at guest requests•

I had high hopes and expectations of the experience and this surpassed them!
This was quite a short notice booking for me, booking only four to five weeks ahead of the date. The purpose at the time was to do something a little different and to temporarily escape the pressures of work. What an excellent decision this turned out to be. From the hut itself to the location and to the hospitality, everything was perfect! If you want to get off the "merry go round" of life for a while I'd highly recommend this as a break. The owners have put their heart and soul into this and every fine detail shouts passion, quality customer service and cosiness. I stopped two nights in early March just as the temperature was dropping to below zero. I was concerned before hand if I'd be warm enough but I had no need to worry at all. The log burner along with the electric heater are more than enough to keep you cosy on the coldest of winter nights. My only regret is that I didn't book to stay for longer. I stayed for two nights but could easily have stayed longer. The village of Eyam is quite something but for me it was the Little Green Hut that made this break special along with the wonderful hospitality of the owners. Highly recommended. Something you must do! :-)

Absolutely perfect!!
I’m not sure theres much more I can say other than the title but my partner and I have just returned from a weekend at the hut and it has been absolutely perfect and exactly what we needed. The hut itself is actually larger than photos do it justice and we were both pleasantly surprised with the space we had. Sadly the weather wasn’t on our side with the strong wind and little bit of rain we had but this had absolutely no impact on our stay. We even managed to sit outside Friday evening and make use of the fire pit which was a real treat! The hut itself was cosy and warm and this alongside Rachel’s little extra homely touches, we honestly couldn’t have wanted for anything more. The washroom was only a short walk from the hut with everything you could need and also lovely and warm and homely! We made the most of the brilliant location, exploring Bakewell, a short climb up Mam Tor and ate at the Courtyard Bistro just down the road with lovely food and brilliant service. Thank you both so much for having us and we hope we’ll be able to return later in the year to make use of the gin deck and appreciate the beautiful surroundings in sunnier and warmer weather! But like I said a perfect stay and escape from reality, thank you!

Found serenity
Stayed here from 3rd-5th of February and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The hut is fabulous and so warm, we didn’t even use the fire. We explored Eyam which was lovely, but most of all we enjoyed the evenings sat in the hut, which I can only describe as something wrapping its warm arms around you making you feel so relaxed. My wife and I will take away so many lovely memories from staying here, including sitting around the fire pit, playing cards & Connect 4. If you stay here you MUST read the book of Hygee!! Highly recommend this place.

Gorgeous Remote Getaway
We stayed one night for my partners birthday, Rachel helped making it special by creating a beer and cheese board! The hut is equipped with plenty of games/activities making it perfect to be phone free and enjoy quality time together. The hut is in an excellent location and spent the following morning soaking up the views whilst eating our breakfast hamper before heading off into Eyam and Curbar Edge. Would definitely recommend and hope to be black in the future! We regret only staying the one night!

Amazing little getaway
Wow what an amazing find. A surprise birthday present for my husband couldn't have been more perfect, he loved it. Great location, short walk to the village. Beautiful views over the valley. Lovely breakfast of fresh bread, muesli, orange juice and delicious fruity yogurt. Lovely warm welcome from perfect hosts when we arrived. The hut was full of personal touches including jar of toasting marshmallows next to the burner. We will definitely be back! Trip typeCouple

Absolutely Perfect
Stumbled across this little gem looking for something a little quirky and different and this little hut fitted the bill perfectly The hut was spotlessly clean and so tasteful in decoration, every little detail had been lovingly thought out to create a such special place with all the right ambience Lovely village of Eyam walkable, local amenities right on the door step with spectacular walks to hand, what more could one need It was exactly as described, if not more, you really need to visit to appreciate We will definitely visit again and I haven’t stop talking and recommending The Hut, Eyam Thank you so much Rachel you truly have created something really special 🥰

The perfect mini-moon retreat
Myself and husband booked a 2 night stay for a little break after our wedding. We loved everything about it. So many personal touches which made it feel special. We particularly loved the ‘just married’ bunting and the lavender pillow spray by the bedside. We requested the celebration basket which was a joy and the breakfast was easy and yummy. The little green hut is set in the most beautiful village, peaceful and full of history. We are sure our visit won’t be our last.
