Ardnamurchan Peninsula, Lochaber, Scottish Highlands, Scotland
This beautifully converted former church boasts superb views of the Small Isles and the Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye. It is situated on the north coast of Ardnamurchan and provides a peaceful and calm rural retreat.
The building was erected in the 1850s and retains much of the original wood and other features. A small entrance porch leads to a spacious utility room with Belfast sink, freezer, washing machine and tumble drier and the main living area comprises a dining area, as well as a comfortable seating area with wood burning stove and a well equipped kitchen. You can spend hours relaxing on the built in window seats gazing out across the Minch to the Small Isles and Skye.
The upstairs mezzanine bedroom has a double bed with views of the islands to the north and Ben Hiant, West Ardnamurchan's only mountain,... Recently spent a most wonderful weekend at Old Kilmory Cottage. It is an absolutely ideal cottage to stay in if you want to get the full country, remote experience. Me and my partner loved the log fire and the stunning views from every window in the cottage of the islands and hills. The underfloor heating is a delight. The cottage was well equipped with everything needed and the lack of TV and mobile reception was ideal :) (there was reception in Kilchoan if needed). Also enjoyed the walks and beaches nearby, didn't use the car at all.

Would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting a very relaxing, scottish holiday.

This is a lovely property and very lovingly restored - for those wanting to get away from it all this is the place to go. No TV and sparse radio reception with no mobile signal or wi-fi it really does feel isolated, but the spectacular views and countryside more than make up for it. My fiancee and I had a glorious week there with warm sunshine every day - although how we would have got on had it been inclement I wouldn't like to say!
Only word of caution I would advise if that if thinking of taking small children you wouldn't have been able to let them outside - whilst its lovely to have sheep and lambs right up at the window they leave a considerable mess behind them, and when you theoretically have that much free space you cannot use it seems a shame its not fenced off to enjoy more.
