The barn nestles on a hillside in the beautiful countryside of Raby Castle land and offers far reaching views over open fields towards the Pennines in the West and to the North Yorkshire Moors in the the East. Located some 10 minutes from the centre of the historic victorian market town of Darlington with its newly refurbished theatre - Darlington Hippodrome, there are Farm Shops, Tearooms, Cafes Garden Centres, Ice Cream Parlours, Country Pubs including the renowned Raby Hunt Michelin Star Restaurant all within an easy short drive of Oscar's. The Barn consists of a first floor apartment with stunning views across open countryside from its grand floor to ceiling arched window. Guests will enjoy a small welcome basket stocked with local treats on arrival and have free range of the large gardens with several patio areas to choose from either to the front or rear of this historic property. Guests also enjoy private use of the summerhouse, chiminea and gas BBQ. Enjoy summer nights in peace and tranquility and spend time watching the ever variable bird life in the surrounding landscaped gardens which also include a large wildlife pond and mini waterfall. On clear nights this is a must for stargazers as there is no local street lighting. To the rear of the property is unspoilt woodland which is home to a restored Grade II listed original Limekiln from which the Owner's property takes it's name, Limekiln Cottage. Oscar's makes an ideal touring base for the surrounding areas with many tourist attractions such as the Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle and Durham City with it's fantastic Cathedral, annual Jazz Festival and spectacular 'Luminere' Light Show, To the south are the delightful market towns of Richmond and Northallerton being just a short drive away. Oscar's also lies just a 15 minute drive from the major A1 (North/South) and A66 East/West routes and the delights of the North Yorkshire Coast with its numerous quaint harbours and ports are also within easy driving distance. Slightly further afield and little more than an hours drive away lie the Cities of York and Newcastle or you can enjoy a day in the beautiful Lake District. There are many lovely walks over Raby Estates land and down by the River Tees in Piercebridge. You are guaranteed a very warm welcome from your hosts, Andrea and Tony and are assured of a peaceful and very enjoyable stay. More

Interaction with guests
We will always endeavour to meet our guests on arrival. We live on site so if there are any problems we can sort them immediately and are always on the end of a phone if away from base. If we are going to be away from base - we do have a key safe where we can leave the keys for in-coming guests.
