Less than 5 minutes away from a beautiful sandy beach, between 2 traditional but vibrant towns, and close to many popular attractions such as Mont St Michel & the Bayeux Tapestry, it is perfectly located. This really is a unique and beautiful gem. We hope you love it. The space This spacious farmhouse comprises of large open-plan kitchen, dining room and lounge complete with a gorgeous ornate wood burner, these rooms in particular are brimming with the house's original character. Going through the house you'll find a utility room through to an exceptionally well proportioned and stunning bathroom. Up to the 1st floor you are met with a breathtaking view straight up to the roof timbers neatly framing the traditional French chandelier; the oversized landing comprises of a lounge area, a desk for working on and an extensive library. Walking down the corridor you'll find 2 beautiful bedrooms with original antique furnishings. Finally onto the imposing but gorgeous bathroom housing your very own roll-top bath. Up onto the top floor, this mezzanine level with a second lounge, light feel and third bedroom gives a perfect hideaway spot if you just need a little downtime. The red 'chesterfield' sofa and the sofa on the landing are both purpose build 'sofa-beds', should you need the extra sleeping space. There are also spare mattresses available. The entire house has been beautifully renovated to the highest standards whilst retaining its original character. Whilst the house could have held many more bedrooms, we have specifically chosen a well proportioned and stunning design, rather than just trying to get the most number of rooms in a given space. It is exceptionally well equipped and being our 'home from home', it has not been renovated to just be a holiday let, we love it here and we hope you do too! The are 2 outside courtyards, the front South facing courtyard with seating and a large pizza oven/BBQ and a smaller rear courtyard that magically catches the morning sun through the Lilac leaves (the perfect coffee spot!). There are also extensive gardens complete with a mixed fruit orchard, 'exotic glade', fruit and vegetable garden and a wild flower meadow all for your enjoyment. Additionally, sitting within these gardens is a large traditional barn which houses extras, like bikes, garden furniture, and many other items to further enhance your stay. We are located just a couple of minutes from the most idyllic long sandy beach, and nestled between 2 picturesque French towns offering great markets and restaurants. The village we are in is extremely quiet but does have communal free tennis courts for its residents (please help yourself to rackets and balls in the barn). It has been such a joy to create such a beautiful house and we love it here, we hope you do too. Other things to note We also have membership with 'Brittany Ferries' which will give our guests 10% on ferry crossing. Details available after booking.

Fabulous!
We had an amazing few days. Such a lovely house in a beautiful location… even in the rain! The children loved all the toys in the barn & games in the house. Super comfy beds & luxurious bath 💕

Beautiful
What a beautiful location, the rooms were so well laid out, the beds were deep and comfy and the huge fireplace made for such great evenings playing cards and drinking Calvados. Great place to drive down to Mont st Michel, and you must visit Honfleur. Highly recommend a this place, and try and find the snes.

Fantastic farmhouse in France
We stayed at Glatigny Farmhouse for 3 nights in October, and had a wonderful time. We initially thought that it might be a bit cold in a stone building in October, but with the underfloor heating everything was snug and warm. The house has been beautifully restored, with many small touches that make it unique and occasionally quirky. It was great to stay in October, but we can see that it would be even better in the summer, as they provided bicycles which could be used to ride the short distance to the beach, as well as a table tennis table and pool table which could be set up in the garden. The beach, which was very close by, was one long wide stretch of sand disappearing off into the distance. We would definitely love to come again.

Lovely, Relaxing and Homey
We had a great visit to Normandy and loved staying at Glatigny Farmhouse. The village is quiet and a lovely walk to the English Channel (Le Manche if you're French!). If you stay here, make sure to check out the book on the renovation as it was clearly a work of love. The house is comfortable, well-furnished and so quiet. The hosts were very easy to work with and very responsive. (Literally within minutes any time we contacted them). They have also taken time to provide lots of information on the house and the nearby area, including recommendations for restaurants, places to visit, etc. We were sad to come home and would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful farmhouse renovated with love
What can I say about the place it was gorgeous beautifully decorated and had everything you could wish for in a place to stay. Like home from home. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to explore round the area and only 3km from the most amazing beach I have ever seen. Local shops in next village not to far at all by car. Two bathrooms one with a bath and one with a shower the lounge was a very good size but to be fair we spent most of the time round the kitchen table just chatting away. We did not even out the tv on whilst there.

Exceptional Country Escape
We spent 4 Nights at this gorgeous home in Normandy. We loved every moment. You feel so relaxed the moment you arrive and the small details lovingly applied to every corner really add to this feeling. We explored the area in the days and evenings we spent at the house just chilling and playing board games. The kitchen is more than fully stocked with gorgeous crockery and cutlery to ensure you are able to make and present dishes from the lovely local ingredients. Do try the cider and seafood!! We ate twice in Portbail. Once for lunch and at another for dinner. Both were outstanding. There is a supermarket and gas station nearby too which we found useful. Fran is a wonderful host and went out of her way before and during our stay giving super tips and suggestions which totally made our trip! You truly feel the love that her and Samuel have pored into this home and our only regret is not staying longer! We plan to fix that next year when we return with family... you will love this place!!!

You’ll want to keep this place a secret ...
We stayed at Glatigny Farmhouse for a week and we absolutely loved it! The farmhouse is beautiful, cosy and really well equipped and the surrounding areas are beautiful, especially the beaches! The perfect stay for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. I can’t think of any negatives for this holiday home or location. The bikes and pizza oven are a great addition to the property and means we can cycle around the quaint villages and beaches and come home for a scrummy pizza, sipping fabulous French Wine in the generous garden of the property. A perfect holiday! We’ll be returning soon for sure!!

Charming
A lot of love went into this house, and we enjoyed all of its little surprises. Six adults and one baby had a wonderful time resting here. Do know that it is an old house, which means the floors creak and the electricity can only handle so much at the same time. But, that is part of its charm. If you want a rustic, romantic cottage, this is it. It would be the perfect house to stay at during the warmer months because of the playful barn area and all of the outdoor things you can do. I wish we could have taken advantage of a family barbecue there, but we were there right after Christmas. Luckily, we could take advantage of the heated floors and the large wood stove. It is a short bicycle or car ride to a lovely beach, which we had to ourselves in December. It is about an hour drive to Bayeux and many of the D-Day tourism sites. We'd certainly visit again. Thank you for letting us use your lovely home!

Thank you for the lovely review and your kind comments about the house, it makes all the hard-work worthwhile. We're glad you got to enjoy the wood-burner and heated floor too! Although your comment about the electricity concerns us, as this should not happen and hasn't happened before (the whole property was rewired from scratch with a new consumer unit and new appliances only 3 years ago), we will be getting an electrician to the property after the current guests depart to investigate this. Sometimes US appliances can cause issues with EU power supplies as they are built for different currents of electricity, but like we said, we'll be having it looked into asap. We hope to welcome you back one day in the summer so you can enjoy the outdoors areas and beaches (still very quiet even in the height of summer!). Thanks again, Samuel & Francesca x

A beautiful farmhouse retreat. Perfect for relaxation.
From the moment we booked Glatigny everything was perfect. Sam & Fran are great hosts with regular friendly communication. They also provided excellent suggestions for places of interest, restaurants & exploring the many excellent beaches. The farmhouse has lovingly been restored to the highest specifications. Gorgeous interior design and home comforts in every room. Breakfast in the courtyard included sunshine.! We visited Jurques Zoo which is nearby. Well worth a visit . Wide variety of animals including Giraffes , Red Pandas , Penguins , lemurs to name a few. To summarise we were thoroughly spoilt at Glatigny & can’t recommend Sam & Fran’s home enough.

About the neighbourhood
The tiny village of Glatigny is just a couple of minutes to the most beautiful, long (and often deserted!) sandy beach. It is nestled between the two towns of La Haye du Puit and Portbail, both of which have some superb restaurants and great weekly markets. Barnville-Carteret is also close by and being a summer vacation spot for many Parisians, is a great location to visit in those summer months. Both Portbail and Barnville/Carteret offer great equestrian stables for horse riding and the rides along the beach aren't to be missed! Please do visit the village tennis courts, behind the Marie's office in the village square. These are free to residents and you'll find tennis racquets and balls in the barn.
Getting around
The is a bus station in the closest town of La Haye du Puit. Carentan is only 30km and has a well connected train station. Car is the most convenient way to travel but they are many cycle routes and the area is perfect for this. A cycle to the beach is a must! (It's less than 10 minutes away!)
