About the neighbourhood
The Charente-Limousine is located in the South-West of France. This region is famous for beautiful, lush countryside, sunflower fields and nature reserves, ideal for wildlife observers. For connaiseurs there is an abundance of superior wines, and Pineau is one of the local aperitifs. The local cuisine includes limousin beef, cèpes or girolles (mushrooms), goat's cheese, tourte limousine, petit salé & seafood. Tours of the cognac vineyards and distilleries can be organised for those who wish. The medieval city of Limoges is well known in the porcelaine industry, and many of the factories offer tours. The Parc du Reynou is also a great family day out. The local town of Saint-Junien is reknowned for it's glove factories with visits available.
Getting around
Located within walking distance of the Brigueuil forest, there are plenty of hiking/rambling routes to be explored. For those wishing to venture further afield there are the Megaliths in the Monts de Blond, the Etagnac forest & the lakes of the Haute-Charente all of which offer fantastic scenery, wildlife & views.
