Newfort House is refurbished to a luxury high standard, an original granite Scillonian Cottage, offering a 2 bedroom self catering apartment set on the bay of Hugh Town in Porthloo on St Mary's, the main Island of The Isles of Scilly. It features a spacious south facing outside deck with dinning table for 6 and 2 sun loungers. Check our website for information.
Available to rent from April through to October when the ISSC Scillonian Ferry operates to the Islands, we can accommodate up to 4 adults in 2 bedrooms, bedroom 2 can have a double or 2 single beds as required, just let us know in advance. A tranquil break from the city
My first trip to the Isles of Scilly and it did not disappoint. The place is wonderful and full of adventures to be had. Finding the accommodation of Newfort House on the edge of a picturesque corner of St Mary's island was a hidden gem. The newly refurbished, modern interior of Newfort House has been designed in keeping with the traditional natural surroundings, a calming and peaceful sanctuary from the city life I currently live in.

5 stars just doesn't seem nearly enough!! I have been visiting Scilly for 33 years now and Newfort House is by far and away the most beautiful, luxurious and well thought through accomadatio I have stayed in. All the rooms are finished immaculately and the views from the bedroom windows are the perfect way to start yours days adventures on the isles. I will be rebooking year after year! 10/10

Decorated and equipped to the highest standard this is an ideal holiday cottage. The local town and harbour are a 10/15 minute walk away which is an added bonus. Highly recommended.

Beautiful cottage with excellent location
Newfort House is a truly beautiful place to stay when visiting the Isles of Scilly. It is comfortable, well appointed and well located as a base for your holiday. We'd absolutely recommend this as a place to stay and certainly hope to return.

very comfortable house - great location
we have just spent a week here, our first visit to the Scilly Isles. Fortunately a friend recommended Newfort House and it did not disappoint. It is in a wonderful location, and has been refurbished and renovated to a high spec. We had two very wet days, but felt so at home and relaxed even they were enjoyable. The outside space is also good. we definitely hope to return.

Perfect stay
This property is very special. It is beautifully appointed as seen in the photos and is in a great location with a choice of empty beach a few strides to the left or right from the front door. The dog loved it and hid behind the house when we were leaving; we would have done the same but I don't think next week's guests would have appreciated squatters. Any next accommodation for us has a lot to live up to because Newfort House has set the bar.

Perfect holiday rental property
Newfort House is a well appointed, comfortable holiday accommodation, located ideally on St Mary's, close to the shore/beaches, on the northern fringe of Hugh Town. The well thought out equipment, fine detail of the furnishings, spacious rooms and it not looking at all tired, means you feel truly cosseted and it lives up to the title of "luxury" self catering.

Pampered.
We loved our week at Newfort House. Views from the rooms upstairs across the bay stunning. (Loo with a view!) Beaches almost on the doorstep and excellent restaurant - Julliettes - just up the road. Although the owners were living next door we never felt they intruded, but were always attentive, helpful and friendly . Would have loved to stay longer and hope to return.

excellent
excellent holiday helped with this fantastic cottage. the location was perfect, close to the town but also close to the beach.
The cottage was fantastic,couldn't have asked for anything better immaculate throughout with everything you would ever need.
The owners live next door and couldn't have been more helpful. loved it, will return soon.

The best accommodation on St Mary’s!
A traditional Scillonian granite cottage, Super property, renovated to the highest standard. Beautifully clean with quality soft furnishings bedding and towels.
Well equipped stunning kitchen and bathroom with funky lighting!
Welcoming host, friendly and professional.
Perfect location minutes from Hugh Town and next to a beach, nothing more to say...PERFECTION ! Xx

About the neighbourhood
Newfort House is on the bay of Hugh Town and close to Harry's Walls a 15th Century Fort, from which the old stones were used to build the house. It is set between two quiet beaches. Hugh Town is the central hub with its cluster of shops, banks, churches, post office, cafés, galleries, restaurants and pubs as well as the wonderful museum. It has three lovely beaches in very close proximity – Porthcressa with a children’s play area close by; Town Beach, a perfect spot to watch the comings and goings on the Quay; and Porthmellon 1 minute from Newfort House hosts the Sailing Centre.
Getting around
One of the most enjoyable things to do on the Isles of Scilly is to hop onto a "tripper' boat and go explore. It's the best way to get a real flavour of island life. All the islands are really close together - just a 20 minute or so boat ride - so it's perfectly feasible to stay on St Mary's for your entire holiday and visit all the others whilst you are here.
Once landed on an off-island, it's generally a case of walking your way around the stunning coastlines, stopping by galleries and honestly stalls, but essentially marvelling at the incredible views and natural beauty of it all.

How to get there
Arriving in the Isles of Scilly by boat from Penzance after a 2 hour 45 minute mini-cruise is wonderful. As soon as you set sail aboard the Scillonian III, you’ll already sense the gentler pace of life; your journey allows you time to relax. The voyage also gives you a stunning seaside view of Cornwall’s quaint villages, the world-renowned open air Minack Theatre and the Land’s End peninsula. The Scillonian III runs between March and October six days a week, seven in high season. By Air there are three departure points from the mainland – Exeter Airport which is 60-minute flight (March to October), Newquay Cornwall Airport which takes 30 minutes, and Land’s End which is just a 15-minute hop to the islands.
