Interaction with guestswe enjoy meeting and talking to guests. But we also understand when they want to be left alone! This is a family run castle with, we hope, a friendly atmosphere. But don't expect a hotel. It is much more relaxed and free

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

The Sweet Escape
Not just another offsite location for a weekend getaway, but THE place to be and to enjoy. Entering this magical realm with afternoons of extravagant delights and golden sunbathed mornings resembles a secret garden long forgotten. Our hosts - Jim and Annja - made sure to make us all feel welcomed and at home. They have managed to turn the stay of a 35-people group to a great adventure, surrounded by green fields, children laughter, delicious food and friendly faces. I am looking forward to returning to Jim's palace and next time for a longer stay for sure. Do the same and you will not regret it for a second!

Magic place, perfect getaway
I've celebrated my birthday here with a lot of friends, it was more beautiful than anything i could think of before. The palace looks beautiful and renovated in style. All the surroundings are green and well taken care of, it all looks like from a book with fairytales, old trees, a pond behind the castle, birds and animals all living in harmony, and kids from the village playing everywhere. Jim and Annja are super nice people and took great care of us. The food was super tasty as well. Can't ask for more.

Amazing getaway spot for a long weekend
Anna and Jim are some of the friendliest and most laid back people ever. They managed to make our 35-guest group feel right at home. No corner of the property is off limits, they encouraged us throughout the weekend to explore the palace and the suroundings. Fresh air, quiet environment, vintage cars, animals, delicious food, friendly hosts, spacious bedrooms - its all there! This was our second trip & we'll surely be back

Enjoy your stay in this palace
If you need time to refill your energy, if you need a place for a working meeting, if you want to hideaway with your spouse - visit the palace. It was such a delight. The food, the safe playground, the garden, the beautiful rooms. Absolutely everything! We are really looking forward to our next visit. And more british humor, polish sunny side up eggs and Coronation Chicken.

THIS IS THE PLACE, THE PERFECT PLACE!
Cannot thank Jim, Anna and their kids enough. We had such a tranquil, beautiful and welcoming time that it was very hard to leave! In fact we stayed a whole 4 days extra! Trips to the local swimming quarry and lakes, Jim playing the piano, BBQs, the geese, Jims car work shop, the endless bizarre barns - the site itself is enough to get lost in before you've even explored the local area. Nearby Czech town is very much worth the visit, lovely town square where we enjoyed a delightful last meal with Jim and Anna. Our two apartments were beautiful and spacious, and the rest of our group were very happy camping in the sleeping barn. Prince Bishops Palace seems is perfect get away for small or large groups - we will definitely be back throughout the year. I've never had such welcoming, open and helpful hosts before - they really added a huge aspect to our stay. Thanks Jima and Anna - we will see you again soon!

Peace and rest
I am a returning visitor. I encountered the owner Jim Parton originally through facebook, but he was not previously known to me. I love the pace and magic of this place where I have rested so deeply. I have been there for magical concerts and for quiet times with friends, surrounded by families unknown (and friendly) or happy quite alone. I love the place. Its history is extraordinary, especially the romance of the charming painted ceiling in the ball room that dates from around 1620. It is a 'work in progress'. Jim and his gorgeous wife Anna found and have taken on an enfeebled wreck of a building left heartless by years as a Soviet collective (my description not theirs). The ballroom apart, you will not be wowed by fairytale interiors with Versailles grandeur everywhere as that takes time to design, build up and bring to life. There are some very elegant rooms and some very nice suites. The grand bedroom upstairs with balcony is fine and has a rather wonderful bathroom as well its elegant semi-domed ceiling - but there is also a plain-ness that speaks of Jim and Anna's attempt to bring the whole place back to life. It is also a home for their wonderful children, a live-music and sports venue, and I can't imagine how Jim and Anna have already achieved so much in such a small period of time (8 years). I like the ground floor suites off the main courtyard where there are lovely views of the garden across a 'grass sculpture' of an owl that Jim created - these rooms are silent at night, with just the summer sounds of frogs and wildlife. Jim also has great barns, some are used for sports events, others are used for Ceilidh type live-music events. Others are used to restore old cars. Jim is a polymath who risks stretching himself too thinly, planting veg in the garden, mowing the rugby pitches, arguing historical minutiae with the local conservators - I know few in his league. Don't come here looking for prissy, or 'juzhed up' or glamour. This is a place to find your inner Erda and let her hang out idly by the lake whilst deciding whether to walk around the other barn, or around the trees, or perhaps to explore the end of Anna's pebbled pathway. It isn't palatial, but they have troubled to make everything comfortable and simple - and it creates the loveliest simplicity. The only con I would add is that the family are aware that there are some interesting smells around the place caused by a number of factors that are all being investigated and worked on. This didn't affect my accommodation at all, but I don't want to pretend it was all rosy!
