Situated in the 'Parc natural regional Perigord Limousin', Pontarnaud is about 10km from Brantome, the 'Venice of the Dordogne'. Enjoying a perfect blend of modern facilities and french charm, the ground floor has a unique tiled living-room, with a stone fireplace, which continues on to the outside terrace. This leads to a south-facing dining-room, one of three choices of internal eating areas. There are two east-facing bedrooms (one double and one twin) with large picture windows looking out into the garden. These two bedrooms share a bathroom with a large separate shower, bath and bidet.

As a family of five adults and three children, the house was large enough for everyone to spread out and not get under each other’s feet. About the neighbourhood
Brantome is a beautiful town near the northern edge of the Dordogne department, sometimes known as the Venice of the Dordogne (some poetic licence here!) - but the town really does have a nice mix of medieval and renaissance architecture to admire. The town is classed as one of 'les Plux Beaux Detours' in France and there is a lot going on - from nautical jousting to truffle markets!

The exquisite Bourdeilles chateau is 7km to the south, on the River Dronne, and on the river Cole to the north-east of Brantome, the two attractive villages of La Chapelle-Faucher and St-Jean-de-Cole truly warrant a visit, as does the church in nearby Thiviers.
