Overview
Townhouse -
2 Bedrooms , 3 Bathrooms , Sleeps 5
Ceret, Pyrenees-Orientales, Occitanie
Nestled in the foothills of the French Pyrenees, Ceret is the perfect location for a relaxing, cultured stay. Within its winding streets and squares lies 16bis Rue de Vieux Ceret. Once two townhouses, this 16th Century maison de ville has been classically refurbished while retaining the French traditional features like stone coving, wooden ceiling beams and the original terracotta floor tiles. Built as part of the original walled city consisting of the Church and two curved cobblestone streets, 16bis is a perfect location to explore this delightfully shady, yet bustling town.

Begin with the bakery that opens at 7am and is 30 seconds away from the house. From the Easter Procession to the Cherry Festival in June, there is always plenty to see and do in Ceret itself. You will certainly enjoy the fountains, cafe terraces, the Museum of Mo...

My time at 16bis in Ceret helped me to fall in love with this beautifully quaint and mountainous, yet vibrant little French town. As a young person visiting Ceret, I found there were several things to do and several things to interest my younger sister I right on the doorstep of our lovely little town house - the museum of...

Next time you come you will be able to enjoy my brand new double-glazed wooden windows and a new ventilation system throughout my 3-storey...

Our stay in 16 bis was incredible. Myself and my husband stayed at this amazing house in the heart of the old town of Ceret with our 6 year old son and my husband's brother and his wife. So much space we could have invited the rest of the family! It has everything you need WiFi, sports and movie channels,...

Fantastic central location with all the amenities. Deceptively large accommodation with space for two couples and two children just a stone's throw from the Modern Art Museum, Saturday market, fine dining, etc. Very responsive and helpful owner. Good wifi and many television/radio channels. There are AC units for use during hot weather. Ground floor shower room plus top floor toilet/basin...

Management response:

Hello, Thank you for your enthusiastic review. It'm glad that you enjoyed your three weeks in Ceret in March when the flavour of Ceret is very different from the summertime. The evenings can be chilly and I see that you made good use of the logs in the entrance hall for the sittingroom stove. Thank you for leaving the house...

About the neighbourhood
Like Collioure Ceret was a favourite spot with many great modern artists including Picasso and Braque. In the 1910's Ceret was regarded as the 'Capitol of Cubism'. There is a famous Museum of Modern Art with several cubist paintings, a Picasso collection and works by Chagall, Dali, Miro, Matisse and Juan Gris. Many of these artists came to visit the Catalan sculptor Manolo (1872-1945) and the composer Deodat de Severac (1873-1921) who lived here at the time when many famous artists came to Ceret. Aristide Maillol, the sculptor from Banyuls made a war memorial for the town. Many visitors take a daytrip to Figueres to tour the gallery designed by Salvador Dali to display his large paintings. etchings and other artwork.

Sport fans will delight in the many facilities in Ceret i...
