Brassington, Derbyshire, England
Grade II listed former Methodist chapel (1834) with commanding views of open countryside, located along a sleepy single-track lane. The ground floor is an extensive open-plan, split-level, light and airy living space which, by night can be transformed into a cosy, warmly-lit retreat from the rugged landscape outside. The lower level forms the seating area with a log burning stove, wooden floors with comfortable sofas, and occasional African and Middle Eastern rugs. The original arched wooden windows, period furniture and contemporary neutral fabrics all adding to its character. A couple of steps takes you up to the well-equipped kitchen and dining area. The open-plan nature of this attractive living space compliments a holiday atmosphere and cultivates a sense of togetherness. The staircase, which is split by an imposing king post truss... Read more

Quirky chapel conversion in a stunning location, with everything you need for a lovely vacation. A great base to totally relax and chilled out after a day walking and sight seeing in the Peak District. David is the perfect host, so helpful.

As you enter Brassington the first thing you feel as if you've been transported into Ken Russels 'Women in Love'. This 17th century village has beautifuls bursting gardens of color and little foot paths that wind through this tiny village. As I chef, I was very pleased to see David's well stocked kitchen, lots of pots and pans and utensils...

We enjoyed our stay at Chapel House. It is very comfortable and equipped with everything you need. The wood burner was fun and Arthur's logs kept us warm in the evenings. The location is exceptional, views from the windows over the roofs of the village at the front and baby lambs at the back. The local roads are quirky but lead...

Brassington is an attractive and unspoilt limestone village that nestles on a hillside about 800 feet above sea level. It used to be a centre for the lead-mining industry and has many cottages dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries with Tudor House from 1615, one of the most beautiful. Both village pubs are worth visiting but The Olde Gate (17th Century) was voted Britain's cosiest pub by The Times.
