Reviewed 27 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We booked this last minute, we really needed to get away and relax, we also wanted to bring our dog along with us. The Granery has ticked all the boxes and has done it with class. The Granery is well decorated, comfy, roomy and has a very high class feel to it. Everything you need down to a candle for...

Management response:

Thank you for the lovely feedback - having done a lot of walking ourselves we've almost always been impressed with the condition and signing of footpaths in this area, there's certainly no shortage. The wood burner is rather lovely :-) Hope to see you again when the temperature drops.

We were on a touring holiday in a hired car, which did have Sat Nav, but we did have a little trouble finding the property. We saw the plaque on the gate the second time we drove slowly through the village, and once there, were greeted warmly by a very friendly hostess. The gate does need to be opened manually...

Management response:

The weather was not on its best behaviour that week so I'm glad you enjoyed the Granary. I'd definitely second your recommendation that all visitors to the area pay a visit to the Kinema and I shall pass on your compliments to the Red Lion. I hope the rest of your trip went well and you managed to find a...

What a wonderful little gem. Don't want to tell the world, but feel I need to. I knew I had arrived somewhere special when the gate was open in readiness for our arrival. Little touches were evident that mean a lot such as towels and a bowl along with doggy treats in the welcome pack. The place was beautifully presented...

Management response:

Thank you so much for the lovely review. Sometimes when we don't have any guests we like to have a sneaky cup of tea in the Granary garden too :-)

Additional amenities & feature info
Awarded 5 Stars by Quality in Tourism, all our rooms are equipped to the highest standards with a mixture of antique and modern furnishings.

The accommodation has one king-size bed and a cot can be provided. The stairs have been restored with their original Yorkstone steps and the shape of the stairwell is such that we cannot fit a stairgate - for this reason we believe the property is best suited to babes in arms rather than mobile infants and toddlers . Whilst we have nothing against them we do not accomodate older children due to the size and layout of the property.

Pets are welcome but must not be left unattended in the Granary unless in travel cages; regretfully we have found that they may not be as well behaved when on holiday as they are on home ground :-) <BR...

Dogs are very welcome but due to potential damage must not be left unattended in the cottage unless in travel cages. Sadly not all hounds are happy on their own in a strange place.

About the neighbourhood
Little seems to have changed in Digby over the last 150 years; the village boasts traditional stone cottages, a preaching cross and well-head and is surrounded by fields and woodland giving access to the dramatic Witham fen to the east and the Limestone Heath to the west.

In the village you'll find the Red Lion pub (does food and only a five minute walk!), dating from the 1600's, and the church of St Thomas a Becket with its well preserved Norman entrance arch and traces of Anglo-Saxon stonework. The village has a population of approximately 500 and we are one of the few rural villages to have kept its primary school, post-office and shop.

The historic city of Lincoln lies 13 miles to the north.
