Entered through a traditional Breton stone archway, the front door opens into a double height hall where the original stripped oak beams are a feature. The level, ground floor accommodation has a galley kitchen with a deep window seat, a separate dual aspect living room with wood-burner and french doors opening onto the terrace and a pretty double bedroom that also has french doors and an adjacent shower room. The immediate location is excellent for walkers and cyclists, with many marked trails alongside the river or through the forest and a former rail track winding around the area. There is a local sports base where kayaks and mountain bikes can be hired and a riding stables that organises pony treks. Plessala the nearby town has an excellent creperie, bars, shops, post office, bank, a small supermarket and a weekly farmers market. For guests using the longere as a touring base within 40 minutes there are several medieval market towns, inland lakes with water-sports, historic walled cities with chateaux, international standard golf courses, the Nantes to Brest canal or the stunning north coast beaches. Excellent accommodation, everything has been thought of making for an extremely relaxing stay. We enjoyed both walking and cycling in the area and discovered some really good value places to have lunch. We are already planning a return visit.

Lovely gite adjoining the owners home. We were made very welcome, lots of local advice etc. The gite is very well equipped, everything one could wish for, and more. There is a strong probability we will return.

About the neighbourhood
The surrounding area offers a wide range of outdoor activities, a selection of good places to eat out, pretty market towns to meander around and villages where time appears to stand still; all without having to travel very far. There are regular farmers markets, brocante sales, horse fayres, medieval festivals and fest-noz throughout the year.
How to get there
One hour drive from St Malo ferry port, Dinard airport (Ryanair) and Rennes airport (Flybe), 2 hours from Roscoff ferry port, Brest and Nantes airports. The western channel ports in Normandy are around 3 hours away. Detailed local directions are emailed to all confirmed guests 2 weeks prior to arrival.
