Villa Perivoliou is a light and airy modern house , but built with all the traditional features you would expect on Skopelos Island . Its crowning glory however is its position set in beautiful , peaceful countryside just a few minutes walk from the beaches that some regard as the most beautiful on the island. The unchanged hill village of Glossa though is only 10 minutes away with its shops ,tavernas and cafes. And Ayios Yannis Church made famous by the film Mamma Mia is just 2 miles down the coast. Sparkling views, star gazing and peaceful retreat
We had the best time at Villa Perivoliou and will be back as soon as we can. The villa designed and built by the wonderful Anthoula and her husband Thomas is beautiful, relaxed, comfortable with the best views. I couldn’t stop taking photos of the sunrises and sunsets. The location is stunning and in the quieter corner of the island, so although still easy to get everywhere (Glossa 15 minutes away) it is nice to be a step away from the more touristy parts of the island. The views are amazing from the villa and there are lots of balcony’s and shady areas to enjoy the views from. The drive up to the villa is pretty steep and took us a few gos to get us up the first time, but once you’ve done it once you’ll get up fine every other time. I had booked the villa because it said it is walking distance to the beaches, which is true, but it would be a steep walk back up hill to get home (which we weren’t able to do in the heat). But it is only a 5 min drive to the beaches or you can enjoy the view of the sea from the pool. Anthoula, Thomas and their family could not have been more lovely and helpful, from meeting us on arrival, to getting an electrician in to fix a fuse, to checking in every few days to clean the pool and check if we needed anything. The house was super clean and filled with all the basics you need. We loved all of Thomas’s art around the villa. Anthoula’s father has a beautiful garden of vegetables growing just by the villa. We loved that about the island, even though it is the Mamma Mia island, it is still a hard working farming island, with so much produce being grown and produced on the island (all delicious! Our suitcases were filled with oil and honey on the way home!) We loved our stay so much, especially the magical moments of watching the swallows drink from the pool at dusk and star gazing every night where you can see a million stars. I hope to visit Skopelos again and Anthoula will be first priority to call and I will be recommending her and the villa to anyone hoping to go! Thank you so much for giving us the most beautiful villa and home on Skopelos Anthoula and Thomas!

Peace and Quiet in a beautiful location.
We booked SeaCab to get to Skopelos rather than wait for the ferry, they were waiting for us at Skiathos Port. On arrival our hire car was waiting which we booked through Dream Car at Loutraki(Glossa). With about an hour we were at Villa Perivoliou having been met by Anthoulha's brother Nikos. At first you think it is veery remote in a stunning part of the island. But with the villa having everything you need including internet etc you soon relax and settle into what became one of the most relaxing and enjoyable holidays my wife an I have had. Just what we needed for our first since COVID. The only thing that will disturb the tranquility is the polyphony of the crickets and cicadas, but its just a small sacrifice to pay and just epitomises further where you are. The villa is immaculately clean and is decorated traditionally with everything to make the stay easy. Dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, oven etc. It has air conditioning in every room which was needed. There are plenty of shaded areas both on the terrace and also on the first floor from which you can take in the stunning views. There are a few nearby beaches Perivoliou beach being the largest and more popular as it has a beach bar and sunbeds along with straw parasolls. Our tip is to park your car in the car park and go right as you face the sea to another smaller beach where there were no facilities but you can swim and sunbathe au natural as it is pretty much deserted and there was never more than about six people on it. Glossa is about 15mins drive away and has a good selection of tavernas and restaurants all of a good standard and value for money. A visit to the Mamma Mia church at Agios Ioannis is only 20mins away and is beautiful and as yet hasn't been commercialised, worth a visit for the photos. Anthoula's brother Alex and her father visited us with fresh eggs and fruit and vegtables from their land. This is a truly special place to stay made by the wonderful hosts. The only very small issue is the approach track which is extremely steep, with four adults and a boot full of cases our Fiat Tipo ran out of puff, so either choose a car with a bigger engine or consider a small jeep. But overall a great time was had by all. Anthoulah is super efficient with her contact and she knows so many people she will help with your every need.

Heaven on Earth
Villa Perivoliou has to be the most beautiful villa we have ever stayed in. It is situated up a steep hill overlooking the sea with no one around. it is perfectly quite and tranquil and the views stunning. In the villa there is everything you will need and Anthoula, her husband and beautiful children were the perfect hosts. They come by every few days to clean the pool and make sure everything is OK. The villa is fitted out to the highest standards and the BBQ area is fantastic. The surrounding area is beautiful and green and the beaches were quiet with free sun loungers. The restaurants were good and the prices very reasonable. We really enjoyed a bar/take away in Glossa that was up in the "old town". It did fantastic chicken wraps and the people fantastic. The Mama Mia church was an excellent visit and you could have a relaxing swim around it after climbing all the steps and the little bar at the bottom was not a tourist trap and the prices were the same as everywhere else. A highly recommended island to visit that is quiet and friendly but make sure you take cash as a lot of the restaurants don't take cards

completely relaxation and comfort
All of my family remembers Villa Perivoliou in best way. It were 3 happy weeks in the beautiful Scopelos-island. Very helpful and pleasant host – Anthoula gave us all necessary information about island. Anthoulas parents, who live next to the villa were very-very friendly and did their best for our unforgettable vacation. At the villa are almost all for best recreation… The isn’t wi-fi connection – and this is the only one that made us upset. (We found great connection at the Aramis-tavern at the Loutraki-port). Beautiful views, charming swimming-pool and two dinner areas outside – near the pool and near the barbecue. The house is very clean and comfortable for big family. Near the villa is very nice quite stone beach (10 min on foot or 3 min by car). We also visited many different beaches at the island and two nearest islands – Alonissos and Skiathos. You can find small shops, bakerys and the butchers shop at the Glossa village and two normal-size supermarkets and fish shop at the Scopelos town. Villa Perivoliou – is the place for the quite, secluded, cosy relaxing. There isn’t any noises and events – just nature, relax and serenity. All our best wishes to the owners family! We hope to come back to your villa next time!

An Oasis of Bliss
One can’t say enough about this beautiful villa and its most charming owners Anthoula and her husband Thomas who are both teachers in Athens. From the moment my wife and I arrived at the port of Glossa on the North West corner of Skopelos, they were there there to greet us off the boat and take us to their property. Their villa is a 20 minute drive from the port and after ascending the hill one descends the other side of the coast through some of the most luscious forested scenery you could imagine. This beautiful villa could not be better situated. Its views are totally unpsoilt and one looks straight out onto the ocean from an elevated view that simply takes your breath away. The villa has everything you could wish for in the way of all mod cons and the pool, though not large, is perfectly adequate for a family and friends, which we were, in the fortnight we spent there. A spacious and well equipped kitchen with double doors leading straight onto the terrace with an excellent dining table and chairs - a beautifully laid out drawing room also with doors also leading out onto the terrace; all the bedrooms (3) have wonderful views and the two upstairs bedrooms both have balconies with marvelous views with good seating areas as well. Another terrace upstairs provides beautiful views and was one of our favourite places for its views and ‘sundowners’. The house also has an excellent Barbecue and dining table and the garden around the house is beautifully maintained by its owners. This is clearly a much loved house and Anthoula and her husband could not have been more charming or attentive to any need or question we had about local sightseeing or other travel logistics. Her husband, an art teacher in Athens, also has some of his paintings on display around the house. Despite Villa Perivoliou not having internet (which you can get at any of the tavernas or cafes just 15 minutes away), you really don’t miss it. And if you’re with children, you even get to speak with them ! If you’re looking for peace, tranquility, private coves and beaches and the desire to feed your soul with beautiful surroundings then this is the place to come. Skopelos town is around 45 minutes away and the little fishing fishing village of Agnondas on the South- West corner of the island is about the same. This is Greece and island culture as I remembered it over 25 years ago. The three beach tavernas there are gorgeously located and the quintessential setting for a long and lazy lunch or dinner where children can play on the little beachfront right right by the restaurant. My only frustration was that we couldn’t stay longer but that said, we are already planning our next visit to Villa Perivoliou. Don’t miss the experience.

Villa Perivoliou is a slice of Heaven
We stayed for a week at the end of May and had THE most wonderful time. The villa was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed including lots of different places to sit out and enjoy the wonderful views. Anthoula's sister-in-law met us at the ferry and took us to a supermarket to get supplies for our first couple of days, then we all drove over to the villa. We hired a 4x4 jeep from Magic Cars, which was very reasonably priced and great fun. They brought the jeep to Glossa for us which was really helpful, so we had a car as soon as we stepped off the ferry. The drive up to the villa is very steep, so we would definitely recommend spending a few euros extra to get a 4x4 rather than a 2 wheel drive car. Contact Magic Cars here: http://www.skopelos.net/magiccars/ The beaches nearby were pristine and very quiet, with amazingly clear waters that were perfect for snorkelling. On this side of the island, beaches are made up of small pebbles and there are lots of rocks off the shore, which are home to a great range of small fish. If you are visiting between Easter and mid June, bring wetsuits if you plan to stay in the water for more than 20 minutes. You'll also appreciate water shoes to protect your feet from sea urchins and hot sand or pebbles. Beaches on the west side of the island are more sandy and a bit more commercial, often with a nearby taverna. We went kayaking with Neil at Kayaking Greece and had a brilliant day exploring sea caves and deserted beaches. They provided everything we needed for a lovely day out - including a picnic, drinking water and a tow rope for our youngest when she got tired of paddling. You can contact them here: http://www.aegeanescapes.com/sea-kayaking-skopelos. This was our first family holiday abroad for nearly 10 years and we give it a firm 10/10!

Simply Amazing
We stayed recently for a week in may, very early on in the season and thought that everything was just amazing. From the location, to the villa and the amazingly helpful villas owners to the island. It is a pleasantly peaceful island with gorgeous scenery, private coves and beaches and quaint little villages. Skopelos town is around a 45 minute drive and glossa around 15 minutes. The roads are very winding and a 4x4 rental car would definately be recommended. Our villa host/ ownet is really helpful and can provide lots of helpful advice for the ferry crossing and car rentals. Her family are also ectremely helpful. Thanks for a really great holiday.

Beautiful House on Beautiful Island
The villa is in a very secluded position with a stunning garden, terrace and pool looking out across the beautiful blue sea. The house is very tastefully furnished and the kitchen well equipped, but there is a lovely homely feel, with original paintings and books on the bookshelf. The villa is totally private with no other house anywhere near but yet only 2 mins to two fantastic small beaches and 10 mins to Glossa. Anthoula has been lovely to deal with as the owner and both her sister-in-law and father where very friendly and nice but without in any way imposing themselves. If you wanted you could spend a week or so without seeing or speaking to a single person. Perfect! Arrival and departure couldn't be more relaxed. There is no one reminding you that you have got to leave only a few days after arriving! Here you are just told where to leave the key and then off you go. Again for independent travellers who hate any interference whilst on holiday this place is perfect! All in all I would highly recommend this villa because it is not just the place but the people who make it great.

pefect place for a relaxing holiday
Villa Perivoliou is a unique house for vacations with a beautiful view. The house is new. Everything is in a good condition. We loved the pool and in 10 minutes walking distance is a beautiful beach. Glossa is the next village - a few minutes by car on a dusty road. The whole family is very kindly and helpful. We did really enjoy this stay!

About the neighbourhood
The stone paved streets wind through the village following the contours of the hillside, creating a series of levels, each level being joined by cobbled steps that squeeze around the white washed buildings. Exploring this village unearths surprises at every corner, from supermarkets, tavernas, village squares, bakeries, museums and churches. A photographers delight with views of azure skies, turquoise seas framed by white washed houses dotted with splashes of vibrant coloured flowers. Glossa is a traditional village and this is its charm, spend your evenings in one of the tavernas or restaurants eating wonderful food, soak up the views and atmosphere and watch the world go by. You won be hassled by street vendors or be asked to move on when you have finished eating, things are very laid back here. Some friends have just started sea kayaking expeditions and there are boats that tour the nearby islands including a glass bottomed one. Also it is a paradise for mountain bikeing. There are many churches, monasteries and archaeological sites to visit too.

How to get there
The nearest airports to Skopelos are Skiathos and Volos. Flights to these airports from European destinations are only available from May through to October. Flights operate all year round into Athens and Thessaloniki. Skiathos airport is the main airport servicing the Northern Sporades. From this airport it is a 5 minute taxi ride to the port costing a maximum of 10 euro, then 20 minutes on the ferry to the port of Glossa (known locally as Loutraki, but the ferry timetables refer to it as Glossa), or approximately a 45 minute ferry ride to get to the port of Skopelos Town.Volos airport is expanding its flights rapidly and this year a new airline (Hellas Air will begin flights from UK, France ,Spain, Russia and Germany.. also Ryan Air fly in from Milan,Brussles and Frankfurt. From the airport it is a 20 minute taxi ride to the port and then 2:30 hours journey to Skopelos island, on either the Flying Cat/Dolphin or 3:30 hours on the car ferry. There are two main choices, first is the shuttle flight directly to Skiathos, this takes about 20mins. The second choice is to get a bus from the airport to the bus station in Athens then another bus to Agios Constantinos. From here you catch the Flying Dolphin/Cat to Glossa. Thessaloniki is Greece second city and is located in Northern Greece. There are plenty of airlines flying here.
