Stair House dates back to the 1647 being a listed building it is full of original features and heaps of character it is perfectly situated in the beautiful Newlands valley, yet less than 4 miles from the market town of Keswick. The house has 3 bedrooms one with superking sized bed and en-suite, another with twin bed and a family room featuring a superking bed and bunks for the children. The house has very recently been refurbished to high standard using local tradesmen and materials. Lots of stunning walks from the door. Bubbling stream at bottom of little garden. Cosy friendly pub serving good meals within walking distance. Plenty of room, well equipped kitchen and super comfy beds.

We came for a short walking break and couldn't be happier with Stair House. Gorgeous home in fantastic location. Lovely natural décor, very clean, great facilities, comfy beds and the garden with the stream running through it was a delightful surprise. Evenings spent cosying up...More

How to get there
Directions to Stair House from M6 Junction 40 Travel west on the A66, Just after Keswick leave the A66 taking the left hand turn into the village of Portinscale, follow the road through the village. After leaving Portinscale take the 2nd right hand turn here it is sign posted for Newlands Valley and Buttermere, follow this road passing the Swinside Inn on your right at the bottom of the hill you will arrive at Stair, here follow the road around to the right, going over the small bridge Stair house in the 1st house on your left.
