Maella, Province of Zaragoza, Aragon
This typically Spanish house is set in a small sleepy village in the rural heart of lower Aragon, in an area which produces wine, olives, almonds and the famous melocotones, or large peach. The olives here are the best in the world.

The layout is more typically English, in that the kitchen and dining room/sitting room with TV and DVD player are on the ground floor, but everything else about the house, including the generously sized washroom on the top floor, is Spanish!

The house has 4 bedrooms, two on the first floor, one with a double bed, one with a new fold down full size double sofa bed, and 2 single rooms in the upper floor. There is also a lovely bathroom with toilet, bidet, shower and sink.

In the living room there is a TV for guests use which is connected to the local Spanish television service. The house also benefits from Wi...

Reviewed 2 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

This is the second year running me and my son have stayed in this house the English owners have added a new cooker and tv which we made use of cooking some of our meals. As last year we used Maella as a base to go to the aragon motogp which is only 45 minutes up the road The bars in the square are very friendly and although no one spoke English we used the wi fi to get by a very enjoyable stay

Management response:

Thanks for your comments. Glad you enjoyed your stay again and that you enjoyed your time in Maella. We hope to see you again.

My Son and I stayed at this house for a week and used it as a base for going to the Moto GP at Aragon 3/4 of an hour away on very good roads.
House had 3 floors and was down a quite street in a very rural part of spain.
The English couple that own the house met us there and showed us around.House was basic and could do with furniture updating but ideal for myson and me as really only used for sleeping. As the gas is supplied in bottles ther always seemed a small smell associated but no problem. The village has a lovely small square which was the meeting point for villagers in the evening.Nobody spoke any English in the shops or bars that was half the fun using the Wi Fi which is everywhere to translate.very limited for restauants but all bars served Tapas in the evening so we got by.Very warm even in the evening so sat outside at all the bars even sat in the street at the house drinking tea and discusing the day ahead.Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Management response:

Thanks. We're very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. This is a very rural part of Spain where olive, almond and peach growing is the norm. The beds are all in fact new. As is the Spanish way, the other furniture is original to the house. It's practical and utilitarian In time we're making small improvements but hopefully without spoiling...

About the neighbourhood
Maella is a small village, which boasts all the shops amenities you need on a daily basis, and an open air swimming pool in the summer months. There is also a 24 hour medical centre in case of any emergencies, so you can have the best of both worlds here. Early August sees the fieta in full swing in Maella, with bars offering more food and local delights, as well as nearly 24 hour partying for all ages! Fietas are not just for the 18 - 30 crowd!

The scenery is beautiful and full of wildlife, including birds of prey and hoopoe, as well as wild boar(in the counytyside). The night time sky is a must for star gazers, as the lack of light pollution means you can see so much more!

The annual Vuelta a Espana, (or Spanish Tour de France) comes through Maella, so if you are interested in seeing t...
