This is a warm (although larger than you would expect!) stone quarryman's cottage in the village of Trefor on the Llyn Peninsula. Set in a row of terraced cottages half a mile from the beach, the cottage has the added benefit of a babbling stream with a terraced area at the bottom of the garden- lovely to listen to while enjoying a quiet drink. The long garden also has a central 'sun trap' terrace. Although traditional, the cottage also has a 'modern feel' and it is the perfect location for couples or families wanting to enjoy local walks and wildlife or for those who just want to get away from it all.

The cottage benefits from central heating (although not always necessary with the log burner!) as well as mod cons including a dishwasher, washing/machine dryer as well as a second toilet in addition to the larg...

What a find! A really lovely cottage. And thoughtfully presented, with detailed instructions. Large sitting/dining room, with TV, log-burner, etc. V comfy, and very tastefully decorated. Kitchen is beautifully equipped, complete with Delongi kettle and toaster, and decent knives (a rarity in most of the holiday accommodation that I have stayed in!). there is a well-equipped under-the-stairs cupboard complete with,...

Management response:

Helen. Thanks you so much for the comprehensive review. We really appreciate the time you took to write this. Since your visit we have taken down a lot of the overgrowth in the garden so its a little less shady.. but hopefully that might help with the midges! Certainly look forward to welcoming you and the family back. Thanks again...

Yr Encil cottage in Trefor was lovely. Perfectly situated mid-Llyn Peninsula for easy access to spectacular parts of the Coastal Path. Pretty winding tree-lined road to the village with gamboling lambs in the fields and views of the sea. All the amenities you could ask for. Very modern kitchen and bath, super clean, comfortable and welcoming after a day of...

Management response:

Victoria. Thank you so much for your kind review and we are delighted that the cottage met your needs after your hiking exertions. Hopefully we can welcome you back sometime.

What a delightful find Yr Encil is! From the moment you step inside this lovely old cottage you feel it is a true home from home. Leaving our car (an A4 estate) conveniently parked in the space just outside the back gate we went through the small courtyard, where a bench and covered area have been thoughtfully provided to put...

About the neighbourhood
The village of TREFOR is to be found on the Llyn Peninsula close to Caernarfon and Pwllhelli. Trefor developed thanks to the local granite quarry. Its small harbour became extremely busy in the days when local granite from the Eifl Quarry was shipped to all over Europe. The beach, a mix of sand and pebbles, is mostly sheltered. Nowadays, the inner harbour is mostly occupied by pleasure boats. It is a popular dive site for those interested in SCUBA diving. Nestling at the foot of Yr Eifl (worth the walk to the summit for a spectacular view of Nant Gwrtheyrn) the village of Trefor is popular with families, diving, watersports and fishing enthusiasts and it provides you with an ideal base for exploring the Peninsula.
Getting around
The village itself has a small grocery store and a sub post-office. Buses run from Trefor into Pwllheli and Caernarfon. The beach is just 5 minutes walk from the house. Close by, at CLYNNOG FAWR, there is the ancient Church of St Beuno, a major Llyn landmark on the Pilgrims Route to Bardsey Island. Also nearby at MORFA NEFYN a popular seaside resort, there is a unique 26 hole golf course with a view of the sea from every tee.

From the Midlands take the M6 north, then the M56 westwards, then continue on the A-55 coast road as above. Please ask if you require any other directions or more details on how to get to the property.
