As soon as you turn off the main road and start the drive up to Little Owl you will feel that you are really escaping to that rural idyll! The views are amazing! The studio is located at the end of a quiet track with parking just outside and overlooking a small Common –perfect for exercising the dog, or taking an evening stroll to admire the lovely views. Inside the little Owl is deceptively spacious and nice and bright. There is a relaxed feel to the open plan living area, with 33” flat screen TV, comfy sofa, and leather easy chair with reading lamp as well as a flame effect wood burner. Free Wifi is provided via your own personal mobile device, so internet access is very good for a rural retreat and will be secure. A selection of books, walking and wildlife guides and an OS leisure map of the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean are provided to make your stay more enjoyable. If you don’t feel like going out, you will feel quite at home cooking in the kitchen which is surprisingly spacious and very well equipped for a studio with plenty of work surface, full sized oven, microwave and even a breakfast bar with stools. A good night’s sleep is assured in the comfy double bed and if you feel like spoiling your loved one, the kitchen is close at hand to prepare breakfast in bed! Little Owl has a light and airy shower room which is separate to the main living area. All Velux windows are fitted with blinds and a tool is provided to open and close these and the windows too. There is a glass door leading to the outside seating area giving views over the common, with a curtain enabling you to shut out the world when you want to totally relax. The studio is bright even with the curtain closed thanks to the sky lights. Outside, enjoy a glass of wine and watch the swallows hunting insects over the common, or take a short walk downhill to the bird hide and wildlife garden to see what you can spot or just to admire the fantastic views. The garden is also a great place for stargazing as there is very little light pollution here; you never know, you might just get to see the Milky Way! There are plenty of lovely forest and countryside walks right from the door of the studio; you could literally walk for miles! So it is a wonderful place for a dog to take his holiday! Pets are very welcome in Little Owl; throws are provided for the furniture as well as doggie biscuits on the welcome tray! The garden is fenced with stock fencing and you are welcome to allow your dog off lead provided he or she is supervised at all times and not allowed in the pond. Please note however, we cannot guarantee the security of the fencing as we share the garden with the local wildlife which sometimes goes under the fence! There is no charge for brining your pet, but please do let us know in advance so that we can give your dog a good welcome! Linen, towels, electricity and a welcome tray of juice, biscuits and a pint of milk Little Owl is in a quiet rural location which is traffic free (apart from our own cars and our next door neighbours’). We are in the quieter part of the Forest of Dean overlooking a river valley and about 15 mins drive from the Forest Centre at Beechenhurst and approx 30 mins from the stunning Wye Valley and Welsh border. There is off road parking for one vehicle, with additional parking on the grass adjacent to the designated space. Little Owl is great for those with restricted mobility as once you are inside it is all on one level and there is level access to the nearby parking. Please note that THE GARDEN AND BIRDHIDE ARE ACCESSED VIA A STEEP SLOPE. The Large grassed area outside Little Owl is level and very accessible - it is Forestry commission owned. PLEASE NOTE THAT ACCESS IS VIA A ROUGH SINGLE TRACK UNMADE ROAD. THERE IS SOME RESTRICTED HEAD ROOM IN THE STUDIO ITSELFMore
