What a fabulous stay at Scott’s barn. It’s a beautiful place and surrounding area. Had everything we needed and more. Hosts even supplied toys an outdoor playhouse and baby gate for our grandson age 2. Host are lovely helpful people. Would highly recommend. We will be back soon.

Perfect cottage, off the beaten track, good for children.
My husband and I were looking for a traditional, cottage, of a high quality, quiet, but close enough to local sites and trips out with our two children aged 5 and 3. This cottage absolutely exceeded our expectations. The cottage itself is well loved by the owners and you can tell by the attention to beautiful little details, as well as offering superb quality furnishings and decor. You will not be disappointed. It is very well looked after.
The owners (who live next door)offered us a very warm welcome and are so kind and accommodating. They offered to let our children run around in their big garden (which is right next to the cottage) and they were delighted to use the swing, and to discover the toys.
The cottage feels remote, but is under 10 minutes away from big stores such as Tesco, and local amenities such as a swimming pool, nice cafes etc in Cookstown, and a brilliant playground by the lake in Ballyronan, again all within 10 minutes.
We feel another bonus is the cottage is that it is away from the busy tourist spots but very much within reach of them. We feel that we struck gold booking here as it is a very peaceful home from home. We will definitely be returning to explore more of what Northern Ireland has to offer, it is a beautiful part of the world. Thank you for a lovely stay here Dolores and Des.

Beautiful cottage
We had a brilliant time at Scott's barn. The accommodation is so flexible and worked so well for us, we took our mum away for her 80th birthday, her motility isn't the best but because off the design of the cottage she had the bedroom and ensuite on the same floor as the lounge and kitchen making everything accessible for her, enabling her to feel completely independent. My husband and I used the bottom floor of the cottage which had a fantastic bathroom, bedroom and a lovely back garden. This cottage was just perfect and the location was brilliant for exploring the Sperrins.
Dolores and Des were lovely hosts and nothing was ever too much trouble.
Thank you for making our trip to Mid Ulster so enjoyable with such a lovely place to stay.

A cottage you won’t be disappointed in
When we arrived, we were met by Des who give us a lovely welcome which sets the tone in our opinion. He give us an overview of the history of the cottage and my husband and Des chatted just long enough for us to get the car emptied, lol. The few steps up to the cottage concealed the fact that the cottage was in fact 2 storey to which the kids exclaimed that they were taking the bottom floor which had a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen and we had the delight of the master bedroom upstairs with en-suite sitting off the main open plan living/kitchen area. This was a well presented and kitted out cottage that has everything you need for a relaxing break. A delight to have met Delores and Des and thank them for their welcome.

Excellent! Loved every minute.
Really lucky to find such a great place to stay in a superb location. First impressions were that this a lot larger than the photos suggest. The main floor is open plan, with a kitchen, living room and a separate bedroom and on-suite at one end. There’s plenty of space for two 4 seater sofas, a big kitchen table and a well equipped kitchen. Downstairs has a large bedroom that sleeps 3, utility room and toilet with shower. So from a practical point of view, it’s great, kids can stay downstairs if they wish and you wouldn’t know they are there. Outside is magic, great garden to the side with a couple of swings, the laziest cockerel in the world, who only gets up around 9.00pm and goes to bed around 6.00pm. There’s a fab little veranda which faces the west and if you’re lucky, you can sit there and enjoy the setting sun with a few glasses. The kids were in the host’s garden every morning and evening which is completely contained. Wifi connection is strong, allowing you to stream from a FireStick to the TV if needed. Cookstown is about 5 minutes away and has Tescos, M&S, Sainsburys, so no shortage of supplies. It’s about 1 hour from there to nearly anywhere in the North, so we got to the Giants Causeway, White Park Bay beach (best beach on the North coast) and Ulster American Folk park very easily. Thanks Des and Dolores for letting us stay for the 5 nights, best of luck. Fearghal
