A lovely listed former mill cottage dating back to the 1700s. Charmingly extended and beautifully renovated it provides lots accommodation in the market town of Bakewell. It has one large living room and lots of small cosy rooms. 12 people have plenty of space here and do not feel on top of one another. Convenient location.Set on the main road 200 yds from town centre great location, but close the big double doors and you are in a private and quiet spot, with fabulous views from the garden. There are many activities to do from the house from walking, fishing, geocaching, paragliding, balloon rides, swimming, stately home visiting to theme parks like Alton Towers.

Even before reaching the cottage the communication with Maggie was excellent, letting me know everything I might need to know and answering every question quickly and was really friendly. The cottage was perfect, the 12 of us had loads of room and nobody was stepping on anybody else's toes to get around. Everything was in great condition and good quality...

The house has been developed over several decades in 1830 it was a mill workers cottage with a tinkers work shop behind. It is now a rambling house with lots of rooms that feels very specious because of its unusual layout.There are two Double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms, one bedroom with single bed and a captains bed (ideal for children). There is a large living room - with a double sofa bed. There is one family bathroom with bath and shower over, sink toilet and bidet. There is also a family wet room with a large shower as well as sink and toilet. There is also another toilet off the laundry room. 3 toilets in all. About the neighbourhood
The home of the original Bakewell Pudding, the town is picturesque and genteel. There are many local amenities within walking distance of the cottage. The house is right in Bakewell so you don't actually need to use the car at all as so many activities, facilities and shops are accessible on foot.
It is a hot spot for geocachers with a good number of good quality stashes in the area.
There are lots several great charity shops to peruse.
There are of course the selection of 'original' Bakewell Pudding and tart makers and there shops. Not to be missed!
Go to the cattle market if you are there on a Monday with a fascinating experience, but keep your hands by your sides, bidding is fast and furious!

You can enjoy the countryside by walking directly from the house. A car of course will take you further afield. The local bus services are also efficient and local buses all stop very close to the house.

Railway: Matlock, Buxton or Chesterfield: 20.0 km
Most direct method of arrival is car. There is a bus that runs between Buxton and Sheffield which stops very near the house. If arriving by train you can come into Matlock station and the pick up a bus to Bakewell, again the bus stop is near the house.
