Interaction with guests
I aim to have the cottage ready for visitors by 15.00 on the changeover day (Saturday). I do stress to visitors however, not to rush to meet me at the cottage by this time especially as travelling times can be very unpredictable in the peak holiday season. I do not actually live in Dalwood but I am only 6 miles away close by to Membury. Therefore, I am very happy to leave the key in a ' secret place ' so as visitors can let themselves in! I always make a point of giving a telephone courtesy call to check that all is well and I can be back down in Dalwood in 10 minutes if necessary.

About the neighbourhood
Dalwood has a picturesque charm and is situated about 4 miles to the west of the rural market town of Axminster. It lies between 2 ridges of the Blackdown Hills in the valley of the Corry Brook, a tributary of the Yarty which in turn flows into the River Axe and then out to sea at Axmouth. The Corry Brook flows through the centre of Dalwood and is crossed by a pretty, stone-arched bridge which forms a delightful focal point to the village. Dalwood also has a number of well-preserved thatched properties which add to its timeless charm and Hillview would originally have been thatched as an old photograph in the cottage shows. The village is very welcoming and has a strong sense of community as the local shop being run by volunteers testifies.
