Interaction with guestsWe do live on the property but I work six days a week so am not on the property much during the day but my husband is on the farm most days. We will do our best to be there to welcome you, and I do like to say goodbye to my guests - but depending on your arrival/departure times, there might be some occasions when this is not possible, and an arrangement will then be made regarding keys. We are very conscious of our guests privacy so try and stay out of your way as much as possible. It doesnt mean that we dont want to see you - please do contact us anytime re any queries or to meet our animals. There is a brochure for the cottage in the sitting room which has our contact numbers.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Quality and Perfection
We’re just finishing a week in this wonderful cottage. It is beautifully furnished, scrupulously clean and so well fitted out. Finished off with some quality details by excellent hosts, you’ll not want for anything during your stay. With it’s private entrance and parking, it’s so easy to settle in and relax. The cottage is perfectly situated to explore the Jurassic coast, beautiful countryside and Exeter and Dartmoor not to far away, so there’s plenty to do. On the other hand, just kick back and relax. It’s the perfect setting to relax and you’ll leave feeling refreshed and ready to face the world.

Perfect!
We booked this gorgeous cottage through Airbnb, needing to get away from home and Covid chaos. It is a lovely and surprisingly spacious cottage, with excellent facilities and a good-sized, secure garden (perfect for dogs). We felt completely at home here; Di was an attentive host, and we had privacy, despite proximity to the other cottages. It is well positioned to explore local beaches (i.e. Beer, Seaton, Lyme Regis) and attractions (Burrow Farm Gardens - very worth a visit). When next in Devon, we will definitely stay again.

Lovely stay!
We had a lovely stay here with two of our grandchildren. When we got there we were amazed at the goodies Di had provided and even the dairy free options for me. The accommodation was lovely and the children enjoyed playing upstairs. Plenty to do not too far away. Would definitely recommend this lovely little hideaway.

Cosy relaxing cottage, friendly helpful owner
Great location for exploring the East Devon/Dorset Jurassic coast and villages. Cottage had everything you could need and breakfast supplies were fantastic. Cosy with lots of character, beautifully converted from barn.

Lovely converted barn, has everything you need
I stayed for 4 nights with my daughter but wish it had been longer. Lots of things to do to keep little ones amused and all within a 20 minute drive. Easy drive to Paignton zoo in under an hour. Accomodation had everything we needed and getting to play with the farm dogs was a bonus!

Lovely character cottage, fantastic hosts!
Lovely cottage in such a beautiful part of the country! Hosts went out of their way to make it a special Christmas stay, even putting up a tree for us and stockings for our children. Highly recommend this lovely holiday rental.

Ideal rental with great facilities and lovely hosts
Stayed here for the second time in August. It is a lovely cottage, so well maintained and equipped. A lot of thought has gone into making this place the perfect getaway in rural east Devon by Di and Dave, who are superb hosts. Love it.

Lovely getaway, quaint farm and only short drive to the coast
We stayed with our 6 month old son and had a great time. Di and Dave were lovely hosts, there to help with any questions and always busy on the farm, whether that be feeding the ducklings and the lambs, building stables or shooing herons away from the fish pond! The buildings have great character, the accommodation was very clean and the separate dwellings provided us with our very own holiday let. We took day trips to the lovely villages of Lyme Regis, Seaton and Beer for fish and chips and ice cream buy the sea as well as fossil hunting at Charmouth. We had a great time, we'll certainly be back to see George the Sheep and Rose Suki the dogs.

Perfect getaway from city life
During our short visit to Mwendafye we were greeted by Di who gave us a tour of the cosy cottage and farmstead. Lovely location with beautiful garden, homely touches (thanks for the creamed tea), we were provided with everything we needed for a plentiful breakfast and it was great for children as the loft had entertainment provided. 20 drive from the coast line which is a good day out, very dramatic coastline. Also went on a old school tram which went through a bird sanctuary and into a Saxon village. Overall very happy with our stay thank you very much.

Cosy Devon Retreat
We have just returned from a short vacation staying in Mwendafye cottage and I cannot recommend the accommodation highly enough. It provided us with a handy base to explore the local area, with Axminster, Honiton and the beaches of Lyme Regis and Seaton within short drives. I travelled with my girlfriend and young daughter and we were all catered for excellently, even down to the fact that my partner is off dairy due to nursing. All breakfast supplies were provided with this in mind and we were even greeted with some dairy-free cakes to welcome us on arrival. It really is the little thoughtful touches that have made the stay so pleasant. Provision of breakfast, the cottage itself was immaculate and very well kitted out. Di is a very welcoming host and made us feel at home during our visit. And on departure we were given some of her duck eggs and dairy-free chocolate - again another lovely touch!

Map
About the neighbourhood
Mwendafye is approximately halfway between Axminster and Honiton. The surrounding countryside is particularly scenic and tranquil and there are many lovely local country walks. There is a public footpath from the farm which goes down to the historic pub in Dalwood – The Tuckers Arms; which was built in the thirteenth century. It is a lovely walk in summer during the day but is about a forty min walk and is uphill coming back. A map of different walks is provided. Burrow Farm gardens is a few minutes away offers cream teas and there is also a farm shop in nearby Kilmington.
Getting around
We are not on a bus route, and nearest train station is at Honiton or Axminster which is fifteen min away.

How to get there
Directions Herewith directions for the last part of your journey as the postcode applies to 3 houses. 1. If you are travelling from London or the north- Directions for the last part of your journey from the A303 as follows : Just after the A303 becomes the A 30 - take the Axminster turning to the left past the Isuzu car place onto the Stockland Hill road and keep going (dead straight Roman road) - past the big mast which you will see ahead of you to the left. Your satnav will probably take you to Telegraph cottage which is on the right. If your route finder suggests you turn down Post lane - please ignore it, as it is incorrect and you will get lost! Keep going and we are the next property on the left. ( stone and thatch/slate) Turn into the farmyard through the brown wooden gates after the buildings - not the black gates before the buildings. Your host will meet you with the key. Please phone/text when you arrive. 2. If you are travelling from the south east or coming up from the coast on the A35 - pass the Axminster turnoffs and after Kilmington turn right at the Landrover place onto the Stockland hill road signposted Dalwood/Burrow farm gardens. Keep to the left and go up the hill - do not turn turn right again to Dalwood! You will pass a number of farms and go through some crossroads signposted Dalwood/Honiton and then pass a turnoff to Hawley on your right and you will see the big mast ahead to your right. We are in the middle of the ñext S bend - on the right stone wall with hedge - turn into the Farm yard - and come through the brown wooden gates. If you go under the power lines you have gone too far. 3. If you are travelling from the south or south west on the A30 - pass the Honiton turnoffs and go through Monkton and then take the turnoff to the right just before the Honiton car place onto the Stockland Hill road and then follow the directions as in 1. You can also come through Honiton on the A35 but usually quicker via the A30.
