At the heart of the great food, pleasure and leisure to be found in Gascony, S.W. France, our fully modernised 18th century stone house in the centre of very traditional village of Montaigu is newly opened as a B&B for spring and summer breaks.
With the added bonus of optional dinners from a professional chef, we welcome you as a home from home to a choice of three lovely rooms, the Bordeaux, Lavender and Blue rooms, and a full continental breakfast in the garden room.
The spacious living and dining areas give on to the raised garden with a pergola for outside eating in good weather plus the pool area provides a further area for relaxation.

The hosts, Rosa and John, live on the top floor and, as well as welcoming you on arrival and providing a fulsome continental breakfast, are keen to help you enjoy your stay by providing information about what to do in the area, the best restaurants, walking and cycle walks, and vineyards to visit, and generally make you feel at home. We are enthusiastic about the locally sourced and seasonal food and Cahors wines and should you wish to stay in and eat with us or privately in the garden room, will prepare for you a choice of regional or more refined menus (24 hours notice needed). Complimentary tea and coffee facilities and a guest fridge for soft drinks and picnic items etc are available at all times in the garden room.

About the neighbourhood
Montaigu de Quercy is one of the many historic bastide hilltop villages between the Lot, Tarn and Garonne rivers and the Canal des deux Mers/ Canal du Midi. It was on the frontline in the wars between the English and French during the time of Richard the Lionheart.
It is well positioned between the towns of Lauzerte and Tournan, stopping points on the routes to Santiago de Compostella in N. Spain, and you still see pilgrims ploughing their way across the lands. A visit to nearby Cahors with its famous bridge (as well as vineyards) and to the Abbey at Moissac are a must.
Today Montaigu itself is primarily a tourist destination for its lovely swimming lake with many amenities, for local markets, walks through lovely countryside and cycling.

Ferry: Santander: 516.0 km
About an hour an a quarter’s drive from either Bergerac or Toulouse airports, good value flights to Montaigu are available from the UK via Ryan Air, Easyjet, Flyebe and British Airways. Bordeaux is about half an hour further. There is a good selection of car hire companies at all the airports.
Montaigu is about a 10 hour drive from the northern Cross Channel ports. If you are travelling by Eurostar and TGV, it is about a 40 minute drive from Agen station, where car hire is also available.

A car or rental car is advisable if you wish to travel around the area. There is plenty of safe free parking locally in the village.
