It provides an excellent base for the perfect family break, with lovely rural walks from the property, Forest Parks, Golf courses, fishing, horseriding, cycling and beautiful local beaches all within 10 miles.

My husband and I stayed in Cavan House along with 6 other friends in the lead up to a family wedding that we drove down to Dublin for (from UK). I can not praise this place enough because I literally fell in love with it...More

A very central point for exploring the beautiful south Down area. Only 10 min drive from the Co Down coast and 30min drive to Belfast.
Newry & Banbridge are great shopping towns (both only 15 min drive away)
Newcastle seaside town is lined with lovely coffee shops and ice cream parlours. Some beautiful restaurants and lively nightlife.
Perfectly central & suitable for all ages.
Getting around
Car is highly recommended as we are in a rural location. However Rathfriland Bus Station is less than 1 mile from the house so you can easily walk and get a bus to wherever you want to go.
Taxis are also easily accessed.

Railway: Newry Train Station: 20.0 km
Ferry: Belfast: 59.0 km
1 mike outside the town of Rathfriland. If you are coming from Belfast, head Southbound on the M1. Take the exit at Sprucefield for Dublin & the follow the A1 Southbound until you come to Banbridge. Take the exit to Rathfriland B10 - follow that road for 8 miles until you reach Rathfriland. Head towards Castlewellan and Drumdreenagh Road is the second road out of Rathfriland on your left. Cavan House is the first house on your right.
