We stayed at Barley Cottage for 2 weeks in late July/August 2015. The pictures of the house don't do it justice, it really did feel like a home from home! The books for guests to borrow, the beach equipment to use, the cream tea on arrival (much welcomed after a long journey from Cumbria!) all made Barley Cottage feel very...

Barley Cottage was everything we expected and more. The pictures only tell half the story. We thought that we had experienced the Woolacombe area until we stayed in Georgeham. Surely the most idyllic village in the area with plenty to do even for the kids. The cottage was just as described with a welcome cream tea greeting our arrival. We...

Our holiday in Barley Cottage was fabulous & the cream tea on arrival ensured a perfect start. The cottage is beautifully decorated & is very well equipped. It is also perfectly situated for many activities including surfing, walking, cycling, pubs & restaurants. Only complaint is that a week just isn't long enough!!!

About the neighbourhood
Once the home of Henry Williamson author of Tarka the Otter, Georgeham is an idyllic village just a few minutes drive from the award winning blue flag beaches of Putsborough and Croyde and with Saunton and Woolacombe beaches nearby. Putsborough is the nearest and forms part of the 3 mile long stretch of white sands all the way up to Woolacombe. Woolacombe beach has just been rated as the 4th best beach in Europe and the 13th best beach in the world by tripadvisor. It's clean, safe and backed by rolling dunes which means it's very easy to find space even in the peak of Summer. The village has two great pubs with local beers, cider and fab food as well as a village shop and post office with a range of organic produce all less than a five minute walk away If you don't fancy coo... more
