Classic alpine chalet in a French town by ski slopes - ideal
We went for a ski holiday later than planned in April, but still had really good snow, and Eleanor and Stephen were really helpful in orientating us so we knew where to go. A missed flight connection, a lost passport was a stressful start to our holiday, but Eleanor was really calm and helped us find our feet and was charming. The chalet was lovely, and a good mix of home-from-home and delux holiday chalet. The jacuzzi was a really nice touch for an after ski soak, and great for the family to relax in different areas as well as the lounge, which had a log burner so good for the cooler evenings. We loved staying here and would love to come back any time, as it's set up for mountain biking in the summer as well as winter skiing. Really lovely.

Great spot to enjoy the delights of the Briançon area
We had a week long catered chalet holiday sharing with 2 families of 4 that we had not met before.
We had a glorious stay here, the food each day is great - thanks Matt.
It was a joy not to have to cook and clean for a week :-) and the two families were brilliant fun. Wednesday is the cook's day off so you have the opportunity to have an explore and see what delights Briancon has to offer. Definitely worth picking up an 'animations' brochure from the Tourst information early in the week to see what's on. There was a Defi de Granon and Galibier during our visit as well as live music and an ice hockey match!
The dining area outside and inside fits exactly 10 people, and has incredible views, they are within 5-10 mins walk of the old town and new town and there is a wealth of adventure and activity available to enjoy for all the family. The living area isn't quite big enough for 10, there are two sofas which fit 2 1/2 people a piece and a couple of bean bags. There are games and a reasonable priced honesty bar available.
The bedroom we had was reasonably sized with good storage space and a nice sized bathroom, it isn't super luxurious but very comfy, clean and functional. Exactly what we wanted for a week of outdoor activity. There is a washing machine and dryer downstairs which is brilliant when you are creating a fair amount of sweaty, dusty laundry each day.
Steve has a bike work shop with all the bits and bobs required to tweak your bike, and a bike wash outside. He is an experienced MTB guide so can offer guiding - worth it to discover hidden downhill / enduro gems that you would otherwise be unlikely to find. Eleanor will help you figure out how to get about and advise on what is available, she was very helpful before and during the holiday.
There are via ferrata galore, lift assisted downhill MTB (VTT) trails every where, canyoning, rafting, great trekking and outside swimming. there is also a UNESCO old city to visit, more hill forts than you can shake a stick at and stunning mountain views everywhere you look. A car comes in very handy for getting around.

Cherchez No More!!
Serre Che Chalet Briancon:
Family of 8 - aged 3 -70! - landed in Turin, - and then on our feet with this fab catered chalet in Briancon!
Steve & Eleanor, hosts and owners were easy to contact. answered loads of questions before we arrived - and loads more once we did!
5 en-suite bedrooms, huge dining table - hot tub - and fab food ! all cooked fresh by Eleanor , Nick and Maeve ( sorry this will not be right!) - loads of choice at breakfast - coffee, cake and Queen of the Quiche at 4 and then 3 course dinner with wine - even more impressive with our list of allergies and dislikes- the first night curry with lime and coriander rice being my favourite! and the chocolate extravaganza!! words fail! All the rest of the group enjoyed good skiing from Briancon and Chantermerle - whilst the little guy went to Ski school and my sister and I - the non skiers enjoyed gondola trips to mid stations and top of the mountain, G & T's on the terrace with faces to the sun, easy bus rides to nearby villages, to look around - oh! another glass of wine or hot chocolate. Everything we had hoped for and more. More than one visit to the Old Town, with it.s steep streets and fortifications, culminated in an evening meal at The Gavroche (!) on the hosts night off.
Remarkable constant snowfall the day before we left, meant Steve spent all day clearing, shovelling and blowing snow to clear the way. This affected our journey home plans, but again Eleanor and Steve were as helpful as they could be, infact the whole of Briancon was friendly and helpful to everyone, we saw endless acts of kindness and help all around the snowed in streets as cars slid, put on chains or needed dug out.
Isaac, our wonderful driver from Snow cabs, got us to Turin for our flight with minutes to spare. All in all, a great time by all and definetely recommend.
Bossyjossy.

Perfect Location and sensational family holiday in one of the most beautiful villages
We loved the French Alps and all the surronding areas. the chalet was super close to the Old town and we walked each day to the New Town. Cycling and walking around was so easy and alot of fun. The chalet is new and beautifully decorated. We had everything we needed and Steve and Eleanor were there for us and anything we needed. Cat and Dave prepared mouth watering meals and so much food.. we were spoilt! Every meal different and we experienced fresh foods from the region. WE loved every meal that was served. Cat and Dave were super friendly and accomodating to all our requirements.
We would highly recommend staying at Chalet Serre Chevalier and we will certainly be back

Awesome chalet, something everyone, going back next year!
Perfectly positioned chalet raised up the city centre to give gorgeous views from. The chalet is just moments down the hill to the city centre and the ski lifts in the centre of Briancon are only minutes away. The chalet's location on the hill side not only provides great views, which come into their own with the big balcony for meal times or when spending time in the hot tub, but it also means you only have 5 minutes walk up the hill to the historic old town with its medieval streets, bars and nice restaurants.
There is plenty to do and see whether you are into action-packed holidays (e.g. skiing, mountain biking, white water rafting) or chilling around the streets of the historic town.
The alpine-style accommodation is extremely modern, cosy with plenty of space for a decent sized group. Highly recommended and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

The chalet is located in the centre of Briancon, within walking distance of the UNESCO citadel full of shops, galleries, restaurants and cafés on cobbled, narrow streets. The chalet is also within walking distance of the Serre Chevalier ski system - one of the largest ski areas in France. We can help organise lessons and hire equipment. Its only a short drive to the nordic park for husky mushing and Xcountry skiing.
Right from the doorstep you can access the mountains for hiking, via ferrata, picnic next to glacial lakes and see 'tame' marmots. You can ride the famous cols from the Tour de France, kayak the white water of the Durance and its tributaries, climb the mountains of the Barre des Ecrins and mtn bike with us from bike-Alp
Getting around
Many of the attractions are within easy walking distance but there is also the free ski bus which runs regularly between all the Serre Chevalier resorts from 8am to 11pm. There's also a reliable taxi service.
There are several foot paths from chalet garden to get to bakery and town shops.
