Holiday Rental House
Located on the edge of the medieval hill top hamlet of Le Peyruzel and opposite the chateau, Le Paradis has everything for a relaxing and comfortable holiday in beautiful Perigord. Tastefully converted 10 years ago, this ancient tobacco drying barn is now a magnificent and interesting property, having retained its high ceilings and exposed beams giving the property character and a feeling of space. Mezzanine floors and small staircases add further character and large patio doors give easy access to an outside terrace for al fresco eating. But the real star of the show has to be the garden and pool area which have a constantly changing panorama of the stunning Ceou Valley. One feels that one has almost ascended to heaven here, so peaceful and tranquil it is to look at the valley below, sometimes even from above the clouds. Passing hot air balloonists wave and chatter to you but usually it is the singing of birds and cicadas that are the only sounds that may disturb your siesta. Facing south-west, the garden and pool benefit from the sun all day and wonderful sunsets in the evening. The paved area of the wave pool has an attractive sheltered seating and changing area, with comfortable cane furniture, sunbeds and a fridge for those cool beers and glasses of rose wine. The area is illuminated at night, ideal for relaxing and bathing in the balmy evenings of the summer. The garden has an attractive pergola with rustic dining furniture for evening meals in the sunset. Back inside the property, there are several levels as it is built on a slope. There are, therefore, two ground floors, upper and lower, with small staircases accessing other mezzanine floors. The property is not suitable for access with a wheelchair, although it was designed so that elderly or handicapped people can stay on the lower ground floor as there are two bedrooms, toilets and shower rooms, a sitting area and a summer kitchen located on this level. This level also has easy access to the outside terrace and dining area. The entrance hall has access to the pantry and an internal door to the garage. Two steps lead up to the large well-equipped main kitchen where cooks and chefs are well catered for. There is a range cooker, an american fridge freezer with cool water and ice cubes constantly 'on-tap', a dishwasher and many labour saving kitchen gadgets. There is also a 'summer kitchen' on the lower ground floor which enables preparation of meals and snacks with easy access to the terrace for outside dining. A small staircase leads down from the kitchen to a mezzanine gallery with a desk and internet access. This opens into the spacious and comfortable lounge which is tastefully furnished and has a leather three piece suite, a contempory style wood burner and TV. A staircase leads down from the gallery to the lower ground floor and a further indoor seating area that overlooks the terrace with books and indoor games supplied. On this level, there are two large bedrooms, both furnished with king size comfortable beds and both with walk in wardrobes. They each have an en suite toilet and shower room. There is a further room on this level that has a king size double day bed that can be separated into two singles. This room and the adjoining double bedroom would be suitable for use as family accommodation for parents with two children. Accessed from the main kitchen via a small staircase, is the third and master bedroom, again with king size bed, walk in wardrobe and en suite toilet, bath and shower room. A cot and high chair can be provided on request. The surrounding area is one of the most beautiful and popular in France and Le Peyruzel is located within the 'Golden Triangle'. From Le Peyruzel, which is a medieval hill top hamlet, one can descend to the valleys in almost any direction, on safe walking and cycling trails through lush sunflower fields and walnut groves. The village of Daglan at the foot of the hill, is an attractive and well restored medieval village with many amenities including a supermarket, bakery, post office, bank with an ATM and tennis. A market is held every Sunday morning and there is a barbecue site and children's play area on the banks of the River Ceou by the mill where river bathing is a popular pastime. A bar and two further restaurants in the village offer excellent eating out options and there is no shortage of restaurants in the surrounding area offering meals produced using locally sourced ingredients. Medieval history is everywhere in the area and a visit to Sarlat has to be on everyone's bucket list. A pretty 20 minute drive brings you to this amazing medieval city which holds one of the biggest markets in South West France on Saturday mornings. Domme, another fascinating hill top town is even closer and is steeped in history. The Dordogne Valley is a UNESCO heritage site and the Valley of the 5 Chateaux is a ten minute drive from Le Peyruzel. More
