Loved this place; we had a fabulous short stay at Swallow Barn. Barn was well equipped and well presented; spotlessly clean and bright and fresh. Great walking and cycling country and hosts were more than happy to advise on the best places to go. Very welcoming. Would definitely go back another time. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

We stayed here mid-December and will definitely go back! The cottage is well equipped and really cosy and clean, with great walking routes either straight from the front door or with good access by public transport. The owners, Gill and Dave, were so welcoming and very knowledgable about the local area, they really went out of their way to make...

Management response:

Glad you enjoyed your stay Jennifer, hope to see you again.

This was our second stay at Swallow Barn. The cottage is cosy and warm, just right for two. Chelmorton is a good base for exploring the northern Peak District, with easy access to Buxton by car or bus. There are lots of good walks, you can walk straight from the cottage if you don't want to drive. The cottage is...

About the neighbourhood
Swallow Barn is situated right at the heart of the National Park and therefore offers the perfect base for exploring the area. It is situated in Chelmorton, an ancient Derbyshire village in the 'White Peak' renowned for the surrounding narrow strip fields bounded by limestone walls which trace the patterns of medieval farming methods. Today the fields enclose herds of nibbling sheep and grazing cows. As a conservation village, not on the way to anywhere, it is peaceful and safe. Very little traffic goes up and down the road and you are just as likely to see sheep being herded up the street or a few hens wandering about. There are no shops in the village, however the Church Inn (which serves good food) is just 2 minutes walk up the road.
