Cottage
Tudor style cottages located on one of the most beautiful places on Raymond Island, 6km's from the Paynesville township on 10 acres of bushland with tall trees in a park like setting. Secluded off a beautiful long winding driveway, the house with its two attached 2 storey cottages is but a few metres from the water's edge, and has a safe sandy beach which stretches for miles on this side of the island. There is no road between the house and beach! The cottage is set in an idyllic natural setting of gums and Old Man banksias with lots of native animals including kangaroos, koalas, echidnas and large variety of birds. Raymond Island is the home of Victoria’s koala population.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

What a peaceful place for trip
We stayed here for 3 days during the Easter holidays. We smoothly checked in under the patient guidance of Kristen. It was a cozy house, just right for our family of four. We got up in the morning with the birds chirping and found it's a very beautiful place. The room faces to the beach and there are flocks of black swans on the sea from time to time. Raymond island is a great place to relax, swan cove is a highly recommended place to live. The welcoming Kirsten and Tony will provide you with useful information and enthusiastic help.

Back again
We came back again because we loved it so much last time. Sure, it's handwashing dishes and sketchy/no internet/phone coverage at times, but that's part of the attraction of getting away from it all. This time we had our adult son with us, and he was in awe of the place - especially the old age European decor such as the wallpaper and furnishings, which are in excellent condition given their age. Very eco conscious with recycling food scraps (good food for the beautiful chooks) and other throughful touches. Some great outdoor adventures were enjoyed, such as rowing out beyond the tip of the island to the Point King channel marker, and riding bikes to Eagle Point on the mainland. Hosts were great as always.

Thank you Noriko, Tony and George. It was a pleasure hosting you and we really appreciate your honest and authentic review. We have booked Telstra to upgrade our network to NBN with a new smart modem and antenna on the roof. Here's hoping they are successful this time. Best wishes for 2022 and we look forward to seeing you again.

Lovely little European Chalet experience. Location is amazing and truly refreshing.
Kirsten switched on the AirCon before our arrival. We were welcomed by Casper(their lovely dog) first and then Tony,Kirsten showed us around the property: Their garden, chook pen, beach facing chairs, fire pit, bikes & Kayaks. Lovely little European Chalet experience. Location is amazing and truly refreshing, at the end of world they said in the brochure about the place. Kayaking & Hand feeding Rosellas are the highlights of our trip. It's very safe for first Kayakers also, as water is shallow for almost 100meters from the shore. We had a wonderful time. Our daughter loved this place so much that she wanted to come here again in Feb to catch some shrimp. PS: Kirsten has kindly let us take a book from the room library which our daughter liked so much. It's her son's(30yr old) book when he was a good. Thank you.

Charming house tucked away in a small paradise
Charming house tucked away in a small heaven. The location is amazing, the house is in a well kept opening, surrounded by vegetation and the water, is a peaceful oasis for birds and wildlife. Going around the island is very easy by foot or by bike, and there are koalas everywhere. We borrowed the kayaks to paddle near the house, and the water was very calm and it felt very safe even for not experts users. The host were not there but they left us an amazing breakfast and they check on us to make sure that we were settling well and enjoying our stay, they let us having additional breakfast items and a late checking, and the communication with them was effortless. The accommodation isn't spacious, but it was comfortable enough for the four of us, and we spent the most of the time outside anyway.

Perfect getaway surrounded by nature
We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in the Beach Cottage. Lovely breakfast and for an additional cost Kirsten even cooked us a delicious evening meal which was perfect after a long day exploring Raymond Island and Paynesville on the bicycles available to borrow. Very private and secluded. Charming history to the house. Felt a privilege to be continuing a long tradition of guests coming to stay at the property. Hope to return some day.

Quaint place with a dated charm
Kirsten and Tony’s place is in a different world resplendent with big tall trees and a quaint quiet beach. The sound of the gentle waves are very relaxing and the birds and animals in the property will interest and amuse you, especially the rosellas. The mix of shade and sunshine on a sunny day adds a different charm. The cottage is an architectural gem with lot of thoughtful touches which are soothing to the eye. The exterior and interior décor is something to cherish as it takes you to a different time. The interior of the cottage has been laid out to provide maximum space with enough amenities to make the stay comfortable. We loved interacting with the hosts who were kind to show us their property and offer tips about the place. A special mention for the different teas provided with welcome pack that went a long way in relaxing us after a long day. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would definitely come back to spend more time there

If getting away on an island, the quiet end of the island is the place to be
Peaceful isolation and tranquility in an old world cottage filled with craftsmanship and atmosphere. The surrounds are magical, with open expansive views of Lake Victoria on one side and beautiful gardens and grounds on the other. The home-made goodies are delicious. The mosquitos weren't as bad as we thought they'd be, probably due to the strong winds. The only negative is the small size of the shower recess, but that's the way the original builder did it decades ago. It's amazing to realise that all the buildings on site were hand-built by the owner back in the 70's. Beautiful European charm and touches everywhere. Hospitality and local knowledge from Kirsten and Tony were much appreciated. A great place to relax and recharge.

Wonderful retreat: beach, birds, bikes and quiet
A beautiful private and peaceful place on the waterfront. We were able to rest and recuperate. So glad we did with what the world is facing now. We swam in the lake every day, walked along the beach and the forest tracks, sat in the garden enjoying the parrots coming for native bird seed and rode bikes around the quiet island roads. All this and close enough if you want for restaurants and cafes. We arrived to lovely teas, fresh baked sourdough, a great breakfast platter and we even came away with wonderful home made jams. Cant recommend Swan Cove highly enough for anyone wanting a beautiful coastal retreat.

About the neighbourhood
Raymond Island (Gunai/Kurnai language: Bunjil-baul) is a small island in the Gippsland Lakes, about 300 km (190 mi) from Melbourne. The island is approximately 6 km (3.7 mi) long by 2 km (1.2 mi) wide, and is just 200 m (660 ft) off the coast, across from the town of Paynesville. The island is named after William Odell Raymond, originally a magistrate from New South Wales who established himself as a squatter in Gippsland in the 1840s. Raymond Island is well-known for its large koala population, originally introduced to the island in 1953, and for the Raymond Island Ferry, a chain ferry that links the island to Paynesville on the mainland.
