This Tudor style house is located on one of the most beautiful places on Raymond Island, 6km's from the Paynesville township on 10 acres of bushland with tall trees in a parklike setting. Secluded off a beautiful long winding driveway, the house with its two attached 2 storey cottages is but a few metres from the water's edge and has a safe sandy beach which stretches for miles on this side of the island. There is no road between the house and beach! This area in Gippsland is well known for its mild climate in winter, and cooling sea breezes in the hot summertime. It is surely one of the finest inland lake locations in Victoria, indeed Australia. It offers great variety such as swimming, bushwalking, sailing, boating, fishing, bowling and golf. Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Traditional personalised BnB service
This is what BnBs used to be like; personalised service, special touches, wholesome and healthy foods and homely. The property is stunning! A Tudor house and a private beach- who would have thought! If you are a history buff, the story of the property will stay with you forever, hence the owners truly see themselves as caretakers of this special property. It is meticulously maintained and run as sustainably as possible. We booked a fantastic private yoga session, kayaked, SUPed and swam every day. On top of this. we enjoyed the organic produce grown on the property. Not to mention the wildlife on the island that is so easily seen. Definitely a unique experience. Thanks Kirsten and Tony.

Perfect base for exploring Raymond Island
Very welcoming hosts, a delicious breakfast and fresh baked bread. From their beach, looking out over the lake we saw dolphins and countless birds. We walked around the island on beaches and through forests with a bonus coffee break via the ferry back to Paynesville.

Serene
I booked Swan Cove as we had a weekend of racing. So we really only slept there, but Kirsten and Tony were exceptional hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. The 5 minutes of Swan Cove what I saw in the morning is absolutely lovely. It's a very peaceful and serene place. Will definitely be back again for a holiday.

Gorgeous, quiet retreat, but heaps to do.
Such a beautiful location and wonderful hosts. God's creation on display all around. Very few people on this part of the island, with the beach on your doorstep. Loads of wildlife and quick to drive (or bike) to the ferry for the one minute trip to Paynesville. Loved being able to use the bikes and kayaks.

Great hosts, great place, in a wonderful location.
The hosts are two terrific people - ever so friendly and helpful. On arrival we were shown around the property and gardens, and given a bit of a history of the place. We sampled some of their fruits and herbs, and enjoyed their free range eggs for brekkie. We had afternoon visits by 5-6 kangaroos, and native birds literally eating out of our hands. Kayaks and bikes are provided if you want to get energetic - we settled for a leisurely walk followed by a glass of red. Will definitely return, but for a longer visit, as 3 days just isn't enough.

Perfect escape from the city
What an amazing place to slow down and reconnect with nature. The cottage I stayed in was very cosy, comfortable and the beach was right at my door step. I will definitely be coming back!

Perfect getaway- peaceful, friendly, comfortable, beautiful.
A lovely island retreat. Our cottage was lovely and had everything we needed. It was right on the beachfront- a great base from which to go for walks, bike rides & native wildlife spotting. Kirsten was a great host- we really enjoyed our conversations with her & she was able to help us out with a range of things (from advice about the ferry timetable to getting the shower fixed). The cottage was warm & cosy & Kirsten provided us with some lovely homemade breakfast foods- including amazing sourdough bread! The rosella birds are so friendly that they will eat out of your hand.

Perfect Getaway Post Lockdown
What a beautiful place and amazing location. We went in a big group and we had the best time post all the lockdown were eased. Few things of must watch and do things are : watch the sunrise, at no cost miss this. Enjoy the Kayaking in the still waters. Though it was quite cold my friends and I loved that we could do some activity. Tony and Kirsten are thoughtful hosts, we loved the hospitality of the place and had no complaints. Kirsten cooked us delicious frittata using all the organic products that they have in their nursery. Such an amazing time Special shout out: Lovely Casper, he is sooooo friendly and loves to play around. Wish we could have stayed longer. Will definately want to visit here soon :)

About the neighbourhood
Raymond Island (Gunai/Kurnai language: Bunjil-baul) is a small island in the Gippsland Lakes, about 300 km (190 mi) from Melbourne. The island is approximately 6 km (3.7 mi) long by 2 km (1.2 mi) wide, and is just 200 m (660 ft) off the coast, across from the town of Paynesville. The island is named after William Odell Raymond, originally a magistrate from New South Wales who established himself as a squatter in Gippsland in the 1840s. Raymond Island is well-known for its large koala population, originally introduced to the island in 1953, and for the Raymond Island Ferry, a chain ferry that links the island to Paynesville on the mainland.
