We stayed at Manor Cottage with my daughter in the run up to and after her wedding in Marlborough. The cottage was the perfect property for this occasion. We spent a much needed break at Manor Cottage and our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. Manor Cottage has everything - very comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen and charming garden. Entrance from gravelled parking area along a brick-paved pathway. Sitting room with fireplace containing a woodburning stove - initial supply of logs included in rent. Door through to an extra sitting room with TV. Dining room with beamed ceiling and oak table. 2 steps lead up to a fitted kitchen, which in turn gives access to the garden. Carpeted stairs (NB partly open on one side) lead up to the 1st floor landing. 2 bedrooms – 1 double with a 5ft bed and 1 twin. Bathroom/w.c. with bath, vanity unit and separate shower cubicle.

Manor Cottage is perfectly placed to provide easy access to an historic part of southern England., Winchester, Salisbury, Bath, Oxford and Windsor all being within an hour's drive. Closer to Shalbourne are the local market towns of Hungerford and Marlborough, both well known for their antique shops and Newbury, offering a wide range of shops and restaurants. Other visitor attractions include Wilton Windmill & the Crofton Beam Engines, the ancient stone circles of Avebury and Stonehenge, the Kennet & Avon Canal (narrow boat trips) and the ancient Savernake Forest. London is just over an hour by train from Hungerford (4 miles) and junction 14 of the M4 is approx. 7 miles.
