The Byre is set amidst fields and hills, once part of the famous Baskerville Estate. The barn has retained its original oak beams and has been restored sympathetically to reflect its 300 year history. About the neighbourhood
Hay is small with only 1,500 people- but it has a big heart! There is a superb weekly market, fabulous food and clothes shops and, of course, amazing bookshops. There are often concerts held in Booths Bookshop, for example- and everyone flocks to us for the fabulous Hay Festival. There's a great castle and we also have a fabulous cinema, with comfortable seating and a chance to enjoy a glass of wine. There are numerous places to eat in Hay itself but also in Clyro and Painscastle- and there are several Michelin starred restaurants within reasonable driving distance. Clyro is a hamlet but still has a shop, a pub and a good garage- you can buy everything you need locally! We have three food festivals a year- so marvellous for foodies. If you enjoy Jazz, check out the Brecon Jazz Festiva... more
