These villas are tucked away in one of the last undiscovered stretches of beach in the world at the Machangulo peninsula, within the 5,700 hectares of the Machangulo Nature Reserve, which borders the Maputo National Park in the South.

amazing retreat in the utmost serene environment
Villa Dugongo is situated in the dunes of a truly onspoiled and amazing natural environment with 360 degrees views. The villa consists of several buildings built on connected by wooden terraces to ensure privacy with larger groups, but it has various communual spaces to gather together. In front of the villa is a staircase to a private beach. The villa is nicely decorated and well equipped. The staff of 5 completes the ultimate luxury experience. Neto and his team go above and beyond to accomodate the guests and Neto is an excellent chef. Highly recommended!!

Far and away
If you're looking for a destination which is easy to reach or if a beach where hundreds of people are sunbathing, having beers and playing loud music is your thing then search on. Because Machangulo Villas is not for you.
But if you want to be close to the nature, enjoy a pristine beach, listen to the waves while having a drink on your sunbed by the pool or you want to take a walk for miles without meeting another person and star gaze at night with possible sea turtles keeping you company, look no further.
Machangulo Villas is where you want to be.

100% true paradise!
Last summer we went on a family holiday to Mozambique. It was a long travel but so worth it. Luxurious beach villa in complete seclusion, deserted beaches, safari trips, amazing seafood prepared by a chef and breaching whales in front of the villla. If you are looking for a well-organized paradise meets adventure trip: we recommend you Machangulo Villas! Thank you Sisi for making our trip so memorable, we will be back!!

Simply mesmerizing
How to describe Machangulo in one word: mesmerizing! Though it's a long way the trip is definitely worth it! We entered Mozambique in a 4x4 from the SA border followed by a 2,5/ 3 hours drive on a dirt road while spotting animals in Maputo's National Park - make sure you don't hit an elephant - and it was such an adventure. The villa 'Dugongo' has it all. It's ginormous, spacious, decorated nicely and spread out beautiful over the high, green, lush dunes overseeing the blue ocean and white beach. At the back on top of the hill there's an awesome deck for sundowners. Actually suitable for any moment during the day. It's gorgeous to hang out there, unwind and absorb the 360 degrees stunning view overlooking Machangulo National Park. It's incredible how they were able to build this place on that spot, but they somehow managed to do it. The good news is nobody else near the villa did;) So it's extremely special that you can spend a holiday at such a place in peace and tranquility. The staff will make sure you are totally at ease. If you're lucky you can spot turtles and whales in season. Our children even got their PADI certificates including some pool dives at the villa. How cool is that! I could go on for hours. If you're looking for a special and quiet holiday with your loved ones, willing to travel a bit, love nature and the ocean, I would recommend this place to everyone. A hidden gem. Simply mesmerizing!

The perfect family vacation!
Visited from the US to take a family trip with my sister and her family who live in Mozambique and we stumbled upon this gem! Private villa with 6 bedroom/full bathroom units that can be either king beds or twins which was perfect for our big family. Three main buildings including a dining hall, a game/entertaining area and a lounge area. Private central courtyard and pool. Private beach and mountain top view. It was perfect for our family with age range from 1 year to 64 years. Only comments would be that although the rustic feel is welcomed, an update is needed to the stairs that take you to the mountain top and the beach as they are old and scary to climb, especially with small children (we had a small injury free accident on them but with a re-do of all of those stairs to add gates and railings and to make sure all of the wood is replaced would be good). Also while an off the grid experience is also nice, there has to be some way to get wifi there or network because if am accident does happen there is no way to call out! This was also frustrating when it came to booking and coordinating excursions. I will say though that despite these fixable issues, the chef/manager Neto (who is a genius in the kitchen) and the 5 staff that are available really go above and beyond to make sure you have a worry free stay! Definitely worth the long journey to get there!

we have an excelent and wonderful stay
The house is wonderful with a soft decoration that conveys tranquility. We ( my family) enjoy the place.
The staff was extremely attentive and Chief Neto had an extraordinary attentio n and delicacy.
The beach is very good with small lakes when the tide low, it is amazing. The sunset no words....

Machangulo Villas
Machangulo Villas organized for me and my family a Bush & Beach trip combining Kruger Park & Machangulo.
In Machangulo, we stayed at Villa Dugongo. The most incredible place on this planet!
Place of peace and tranquility where you can hear only birds and the lovely sound of the ocean waves.
One side is lush ‘jungle' and another is the ocean and kilometers of clean beach without seeing any humans.
Great sunrise views (also from bed) and sunset from the sunset deck, spotting whales tracking to nord.
We were spoiled by chef Neto and the villas kind staff with all the delicious prepared food, all the help, washing and cleaning.
Villa is built in a beautiful full natural style and is very luxurious i.e. separate TV/restroom, separate dining room inside and outside, swimming pool.
We started our trip in Kruger: amazing game drives, where we saw in 10 hours all of the Big 5! We learned so much from rangers about fauna and flora.The dinners and breakfasts were incredible!
Thank you to Machangulo Villas for organizing our Africa trip, it was fantastic!
I will recommend you to all my friends.

Once in a lifetime holiday
Villa Dugongo, part of the Machangulo Villa's collection, is one of the most magical locations on earth. For those seeking the perfect combinations of remoteness, barefoot luxury and adventure this place has it all. The villa is beautifully appointed and Neto and his team took care of our every need. We travelled from Maputo with our teenage boys and loved the rugged 3hr drive in the Maputo National Reserve. Our 4x4 was put through it's paces, as were our navigation skills, but we were treated to herds of elephant in the lakes and a huge variety of game all the way. This all added to the sense of achievement and awe when we arrived at Dugongo, perched on the huge sand dunes with extraordinary views across the Indian Ocean.
We spent 3 wonderful days and nights exploring untouched stretches of beach, bodysurfing, watching spectacular sunsets from the upper deck and gorging on Neto's culinary delights. The team also organised an incredible boat from from Santa Maria where we snorkelled on an abundant and healthy reef and enjoyed sundowners at the fabulous Bemugi's bar.
Sisi from Machangulo Villas was a star and helped support our trip back to Maputo, going above and beyond expectations.
We will be heading back to this wonderful part of the world as soon as we can.
