I have returned to this lovely cottage as it has everything I need for my stay. I used the property for rest and a decent shower and all other amenities after a long hard day building my own place. Thoroughly recommend it. The owners Linda and Sam are fantastic and nothing is too much. They are a mine of information...

Well provisioned, Self-contained comfortable cottage with great internet access. Hosts have put a lot of thought into presenting nearby attractions, and into provisioning the cottage. Delightful village with ample to see and do nearby. Good local restaurants. Within driving distance to Limoges and to Orator, (poignant monument to a large regional village massacred during WW!!). We explored the ample pre-history...

About the neighbourhood
Limousin-Cottage is ideally situated for you to explore the whole of the egion, via the toll-free A20 motorway, which is just a 5-10 minute drive away. On mid-Summers day the area participates hugely in the very popular music festival, with free open air performances in virtually all the towns, which end with fireworks. The festival in Limoges, the capital city, is very vibrant. Limoges is also a nice place for a day trip (40 minutes by car from the cottage) and is famous for its porcelain manufacturing. The museum of porcelain is a must for a visit, as also is the quarter de bouchers in the old part of the city. Also not to be missed is the very poignant martyrs village of Oradour sur Glane. In WW2 the whole village was massacred, and it has been left entirely as it stood at that time, a... more

Mailhac sur Benaize is easily accessible by road from the toll-free North/South A20 motorway. The village is about a 5 minute drive away from junctions 21 and 22. It is roughly a 6-7 hour drive from the Channel ports. Limoges airport, served by Ryanair and Flybe from various UK airports, is only 45 minutes away by car. New for 2017! British Airways flights from Gatwick to Limoges from May to September, from just £46 one way! Poitiers airport is a good alternative - a little further away at about a 1 hour 30 min drive away. If flying, a hire car is essential, as the area is very rural. The village is quiet and a great place to relax and put your feet up, and the nearest town with shops, bars, etc is just 2 kms or so along the road.
