About the neighbourhood
West Hobart is one of the original inner city suburbs of Hobart. It is full of history, interesting architecture, street scapes and fabulous views. Being walking distance to the city as well as Salamanca, North Hobart cafes, restaurants and art galleries, it is perfectly located to access day outings and evening events. You can walk past John Glovers' house on Melville Street on the way to North Hobart, or past the old stone Church on Golburn street on the way to the city and Salamanca. Sweet stone cottages with charming gardens grace most of West Hobarts streets, this makes walking delightful and interesting. Knocklofty reserve at the top end of Forest road has countless walking tracks with sensational views of the city and Harbour. Unique Tasmanian locally grown and hand made produce, as...
How to get there
It's easy to get a shuttle bus from the airport or hire a car. Taxis aren't that expensive either, and William Street is so close to everything you really don't have to have a car if you are happy to do most of your sight seeing around the city. Salamanca markets on Saturdays are great value to check out the local handmade Tasmanian crafts and foods, while soaking up live music. It's only a short walk down hill and through the city to the wharfs at Salamanca.
