This lovely house felt like an 'Executive Starter Home' rather than a holiday cottage! Lovely accommodation, and immaculate throughout. Loved the view from the main bedroom, enjoyed peace & quiet, dogs enjoyed a gentle beach stroll when the tide permitted. We ate at the Harbour Inn so did not use the kitchen, but it was certainly well equipped. Could have...

Management response:

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and found the house and surroundings so welcoming and calming. With the personal touches around the house we are trying to create a homely feel (rather than the somewhat 'clinical' feel of some holidya properties we have stayed in) - perhaps we have...

This is a great holiday home, the four adults and the dog found it very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here using it as a base to visit all the surrounding towns and villages. Plenty walks for the dog. The harbour inn is a great place to stop off on the way back from a walk and the meals...

Management response:

Thank you for taking the time to review our cottage. We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, and hope you will consider returning very soon.

A very peaceful area with great walks on the beach or the nearby woods. Immacualte accommodation, beautifully decorated, spotless, cosy and well equipped with lovely fresh bedding and towels. The balcony was perfect for sitting and relaxing, with the evening sun beaming straight on to it and the wonderful scenery, with the beach just a stones throw and the hills...

About the neighbourhood
Garlieston is perhaps best known as the birthplace of the 2nd World War Mulberry Harbour, traces of which can still be seen when walking along the coast to nearby Rigg Bay. The surrounding area is quiet and unspoilt, with some lovely countryside, secluded bays and rugged cliffs. Places of interest include nearby Whithorn Priory - the oldest Christian settlement in Scotland and ancient pilgrimage site - and Barsalloch Iron Age fort, overlooking Luce Bay. View the area's nesting osprey's from Wigtown County Buildings. Cream o'Galloway ice cream centre, near Gatehouse of Fleet, offers a children's farm and adventure playground. There are a number of stunning gardens in the area, including the RHS Botanic Gardens near Port Logan.

Be sure to visit the Mull of Galloway (most so...
