Cabin -
1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 3
Savary Island, British Columbia
The Studio is a raw log cabin with a model's dais on which to drape oneself at the end of a warm day spent in the sensuous sun of Savary Island's south beach. There is sleeping space for a maximum of three in the studio. The studio is roughly hewn, simple and subtly luxuriant. It comes equipped with easel, turpentine and a few basic painting supplies and a music stand. It has a composer's bench where guitarists are free from the arms of chairs. There is soft natural light and a sense of being part of the surrounding enclave of cabins and found art. The studio mirrors the driftwood beaches laced with seaweed and dappled with white shells. Bring your creative tools. Bring some easy food to keep you going. We'll provide the shelter, comfort and warmth.

At The Mint is a delightful experience that will get you intriguing stories from your summer vacation. The fascinating imagination of it's creator, an past icon of Savary, will keep you busy for hours. With it's eccentric combination of found objects and purposeful engineering, it's a photographer's paradise.
The only thing more delightful than the place itself is your hostess, Rosemary. She welcomes you with open arms and invites you to make this enclave of cabins your home. Offering a frothy cappuccino to start your day or enjoy over a leisurely chat in the outdoor living room.
It's a rustic indulgence, I like to call 'glam-ping' with white linen sheets on cozy, clean beds. Well outfitted with simple cooking supplies, it's up to you to bring your culinary camp stove ideas to life. This is not a place to let your kids run wild, but a perfect place to let your inner child be free again. As a solo female, I felt very safe and managed just fine without electricity or running...

We travelled with 4 adults and a 9mo old baby and left home with low expectations and were pleasantly surprised. The rating system is not exactly a fair assessment of this style of accommodations.... It is very rustic - picture sleeping in an old beat up cabin(a) with a camping style mattress and a nice set of clean sheets and comforter and new pillows, then waking up to baby deer outside your window, and then walking by the family of deer to get to your spacious (surprisingly not smelly) outhouse for your morning rituals. Bring more water than you expect to use as if you want to explore the island it involves lots of excersize to get around and there is only rain water not (currently) suitable for consumption available at the cabins. 2 small camping stoves and fuel, and a set of clean dishes were available for our use, but be prepared with dish soap to wash them camping style. Rosemary who had purchased the property in the last year was sleeping on the property in a separate cabin...

Management response:

It was very special for me to have you and your friends and baby come along to the Mint Teahouse and stay in the cabins. I really like your review because it will let other travellers know the kind of rough, simple yet accommodating cabins we have here along with the outdoor wash-station and composting toilets. I bet you smile...
