Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Lovely cottage where will be returning to soon!
We couldn't have chosen a better spell of weather for our short holiday to Innellan - I don't think I've ever known Scotland so hot! The Snug was perfect for us (my wife and I). It had everything we needed and lovely personal touches as well. It was a joy to have the beach just a minute to walk to, we had a few perfect after dinner strolls along the shore. Thank you, Katie, for making us so welcome. We are already planning to come back!

Well equipped comfortable self catered one bedroom home in great location
This comfortable and well equipped one bedroom converted hayloft is situated in a quiet lane only a couple of minutes walk from the beach. Innellan is a coastal village with a village shop and excellent pub with restaurant (The Osborne) only twenty five minutes walk away. There is a regular bus service every hour to/from the local town, Dunoon, at the bottom of the lane. The bus also stops outside The Osborne and village shop so you don't need to drive if the weather is bad and you don't fancy the walk. There are lots of lovely walks nearby. Try the forestry commission 'Chinese ponds' walk at Toward, Pucks Glen walk at Benmore and Harry Lauder walk at Glenbranter. There is a golf course in Innellan with stunning views up and down the Clyde. Dunoon has a cinema, two supermarkets, bank and a number of independent shops and cafes. The Dunoon Borough Hall and newly refurbished Queens Hall have a number of musical and cultural events throughout the year. If it's raining try the castle museum on the hill behind the highland Mary statue or visit the brand new glass fronted first floor library to read for a while and enjoy superb views of the Clyde. You can even bring in your coffee from the cafe downstairs. Katie is a great hostess and replies to all queries very promptly. The accommodation has a bathroom and double bedroom downstairs and an open plan small kitchen/diner/living room upstairs with partial sea views to the Clyde. It is clean, warm and comfortable with everything you could need. Parking is in a layby on the road at the bottom of the lane but we didn't find this a problem as its only a very short walk to the Snug from there. It is possible to unload and load the car next to the property.

Snug as a bug in a rug!
We only had two nights to spend here and I wish it had been longer. What a lovely little jewel of a house. It's the best equipped I've ever stayed in. So peaceful and cosy too. Thank you Katie.

peaceful location
A great place to stay in a wonderful scenic part of the world. Cottage has everything you could wish for and is a delight to stay in . Very clean and comfortable . The beach is a short walk away down the lane and with Dunoon a short coastal drive away this makes a ideal location to stay . A nice evening stroll will take you to the villagers royal which like the Snug is dog friendly . All in all a wonderful cottage to stay in.

Lovely clean little cottage
Great base in innellan dunoon for exploring stayed a week at the snug with our dog, really well equipped and clean.we did lots of travelling around the area, loch eck and jubilee point well worth a look, puks glen is like walking in fairy and goblin land (I did actually lookout for them).we drove to loch fyne had oysters from the deli then saw a sign for loch goilhead on the way back so thought we would see what was there its beautiful little quiet village with fishing and sailing boats great pub for a spot of lunch and wonderful views.portaverdie harbour village really nice we then got the ferry to tarbet from there lovely little fishing harbour, we then drove to skipsee from ther (follow the signs for arran ferry) wow the views are amazing and to top it all off there is a little wood cafe with the most amazing fresh seafood and a smoke house .one of our best trips. Our favourite place to eat was the ardentinny in ardentinny (which is also very nice) the food is great lovely outside decked area overlooking the water ,dogs welcome , its best to ring and book a table outside as it gets booked up (well while the heat wave continues anyway) tried the food at the villages and the Osborne very welcoming at both places food was ok but ardentinny was tops for us for food , atmosphere and views.A big thumbs up for the snug and katie we had a lovely week and thankyou again for the eggs. The only downside is we now have a very sulky little dog

Perfect for a couple and their pooches
We arrived during the bad snow which didn't put us off, we were able to unload the car and the doggies at the door then move the car to the end of the lane which was only a short walk, the Snug is ideal for a couple to use as a base for exploring, we took our two dogs with us who absolutely loved being able to stroll up and down the lane with us. The snug has everything you need and plenty of books and dvd's not that we watched any we were too busy taking the dogs out everyday, we took them to Loch Lomond, Oban, Inverarry, into the forest a couple of days and we took the ferry over to the Isle of Bute two days as we absolutely loved it there, the beach there was thoroughly enjoyed by the boys and we got exercise without realising. The only down side was that we set the smoke alarm off twice as there isn't an extractor fan but we got round that by opening the window, the other thing that was a down side for me was that it was a double bed and I am used to a super king so had to sleep right next to my husband :-D, well I slept on top of the bed as the quilt was too thick for me being a woman of a certain age, this is only a downside for me and not any reflection on the snug at all :-D.

Great little place by the sea
We have just had a long weekend at "The Snug" It's perfect for a getaway for 2. The place is small but brilliant A great use of space. It's upside down, with the lounge / kitchen upstairs, this makes the best of the view. 50 metres away from the beach, with amazing views over the clyde and up towards Holy loch The owner, Katie, is great, brilliant communications It's also dog friendly. All in all a perfect place to explore this fantastic area of Scotland It's Argyll's secret coast.

About the neighbourhood
The Snug is tucked up a quiet little lane in the small village of Innellan. Innellan itself is a quiet little village with a community owned shop, post office, restaurant/bar and a lively village hall. The cottages are tucked up a small lane which is next to the sea, and there are a miles of forest walks where you can hike for hours without seeing another person! TENNIS: We're lucky enough to have a friendly tennis club only a minute's walk from The Snug! If you would like to book a tennis court whilst you're here then please let me know and I’ll be happy to arrange it for you. The cost is £3pp (donation to the club) There's SO much to see and do in Cowal! If you'd like any information at all then just let me (Katie) know x
Getting around
There's a great bus service with a bus stop only a couple of minutes walk from the cottage, at the foot of Trinity Lane. The bus runs into the town of Dunoon and to lots of beautiful local villages, and there's even a dedicated stop at the breathtaking Botanic Gardens. If you're travelling by car then there are a huge number of possibilities for days out and sightseeing - just let me (Katie) know if you'd like any suggestions.

How to get there
The Snug is just over an hour from Glasgow, yet feels like a world away! Located in a quiet lane, in the small village of Innellan, just 4 miles south of the popular tourist town of Dunoon, The Snug is easily reached from Glasgow by road or ferry. Western Ferries operate a regular car service from Gourock and discounted tickets can be purchased in advance from their website. It's also easy to reach The Snug by public transport. Regular trains run from Glasow to Gourock, where they meet the Calmac Ferry. This is a foot-passenger only service from Gourock to Dunoon, where a bus from the ferry terminal takes you to within a couple of minutes of The Snug! A longer, but stunning, alternative route is to drive along the A82 north of Glasgow as far as Tarbet, followed by the A83 over the Rest and be Thankful pass, and then south on the A815 along the shores of Loch Fyne and Loch Eck to Dunoon. Once in Dunoon, the A815 is followed for 4 miles to Innellan. 1 mile after the post office, turn right up Trinity Lane and The Snug is on the right after 20 metres. PARKING: Parking for The Snug is at the large layby at the foot of Trinity Lane (approx 20 metres from the cottage, with streetlighting) as the lane itself is too narrow for parking, though of course you're very welcome to drive up for loading/unloading etc.
