The Suite is located in athe 11 th floor of a very safe condo in la Mariscal that is the Quito's most picturesque and central area with 24H guard security by a little parc and with an underground private parking . It has a lovely balcony where you can slip a coffee while admiring the wonderful view of "the Panecillo" emblematic detail in Quito. Just down , you will have a little park Gabriela Mistral as well as coffees restaurants and so on. It is fully equipped and decorated with my personal touch such as a beautiful Flemish tapestry, French and Ecuadorian paintings. A maid service once a week is available for 20 Usd/week . Needs a bit of TLC
The bed was really hard, the linens smelled musty as did the pillows, the floors and the ceiling in the bathroom was dirty, not all shower heads worked, there were no lines the hang out clothes on to dry, and the exhaust from the garages below seeped up into our apartment and was difficult to breathe.
However, I did feel safe and we were able to walk around and get anything we needed.

Great apartment in Quito!
We are visiting South America for the first time and started in Quito. The suite was a PERFECT location for exploring the city. We had debated staying in the heart of Old Town but chose this location instead and so glad we did. So many restaurants nearby and close to buses for travel further away. We walked most places however. The suite is clean, comfortable and exactly as pictured. We would stay again any time

Week in Quito
Greetings from Quito. Arriving early February we took to our apartment on the 11th floor of Cordero. Great tower view from apartment overlooking the southern part of Quito. The Basilica Vol de National in the background surrounded by Old Colonial Quito. Great place to set up shop for a weekend or for months.
Our hostess Cathy arranged for our driver at the newly built Airport. Quito is an international destination by air. La Mariscal is a neighborhood in Quito to soak in the culture. After reading many reviews and nights researching This French appointed apartment was a great fit. Our host lives next door. The location fit all our needs.....safe and secure. Restaurants steps away. Cathy and her attention to detail made sure we had English drivers and guides for all our adventures. She speaks English, Spanish and French. Hospitality is second nature to her. Steps away from the Cordero apartment building gives her the ability to host others from Antinea, her Hotel. You won’t be disappointed with it as well. Loved touring it.
As the week unfolded we loved our apartment location, style of living, and became comfortable with Quito and the people. I see us returning and using Cathy and her resourceful team to know Ecuador more.
Thank you Cathy for all you do! Quito is our friend. We will see you again.

A very nice play to stay!
Security should not be a concern. The apartment has security at the entrance with an attendant at the desk. The apartment is well secured by an external locked steel gate in addition to the apartment door lock. Elevator also has security features which will not allow a stranger to use the elevator. The whole area is very safe. I was out in the evening on many occasions till 8:30 PM and found no problems contrary to what I had read on the Internet. I cannot vouch for late night events as I did not stay out late. Police is present everywhere.
It is a one bedroom apartment with a beautiful panoramic view of Quito. One can observe a variety of changing scenes during the day depending on the weather conditions, and at night the view is equally spectacular.
Four volcanoes can be seen from the windows. From the bedroom window you can view Cayambe, and part of Pinchicha which can be better viewed from the streets below, if you want to see the peak itself before heading out for an expedition. From the drawing room window you can see Antisana and also Cotopaxi. Cotopaxi can be viewed from the right side of the balcony looking to the left. Someone has to show you Antisana volcano because it does not look like a familiar style of mountain formation.
You can also see the famous historical church, which dominates the view, and Panicillo among other sites from the drawing room. For a tourist perspective the apartment provides an interesting bird’s eye view of the city.
Locally Plaza Foch is very visible. It is a short walk.
Next to the building is a parkette, a place for city organized events and it has an information booth where you can get local tourist information along with city maps. City events included Ecuadorian dances, and market display of Ecuadorian products.
The area is surrounded by a large variety of restaurants serving all kinds of cuisines! You can choose between Ecuadorian, European, Chinese, Indian cuisine and familiar fast food restaurants.
Since the apartment has a well furnished kitchen there are two major grocery stores within walking distance, and an Ecuadorian farmer’s market. For fruits and Vegetables a visit to the farmers market and the closer one ( at least not so far) is Santa Clara Market at Versalles Street. A taxi fare might be less than $2. However, it is within walking distance. Coming back a taxi might be well worth while if you have a lot to carry. It all depends on what kind of gastronomical adventure you seek!
Artisans market place is within walking distance about a mile away along Reina Victoria Ave which incidentally goes through Plaza Foch. The market place has all kinds of jewelry, arts and crafts, and dresses designed and made in Ecuadorian styles. Please make sure if you buy an Alpaca blanket it in fact has some Alpaca wool in it! That is one caveat I like to point out. The good thing about this market is that you do not have to go to Otavello which is slightly larger but essentially the same. Otavello might be cheaper though but you have to bargain as the prices are not fixed.
For taxi service I found it a good idea to request Veronica for making arrangements for travel in the city. The taxi drivers most often provide better and responsible service as a result. Taxi services are quite economical to use in the city. Yellow taxi cabs are the ones to use for safety. Not to mention the public transit system. Ride is a quarter and if you are a senior it is only 12 cents!

Un appartement idéal pour découvrir Quito
Nous sommes restés 3 nuits dans La Suite Almagro et cela a été un total plaisir.
Tout d'abord, les bus situés à 5min nous emmènent directement et rapidement en centre ville et au centre historique.
Le Jardin Botanique est à 20 min à pied, par des rues avec de larges trottoirs.
Un grand supermarché est accessible à pieds et retour en bus très facile, si nécessaire.
Une boulangerie se trouve en face de l'immeuble.
L'appartement est situé dans un immeuble totalement sécurisé par la présence d'un gardien 24h/24 et une carte magnétique est nécessaire pour accéder aux étages.
Le parking en sous-sol est également très sécurisé.
Nous n'avons eu aucune sensation d'insécurité dans ce quartier malgré nos rentrées tardives.
A notre arrivée, Veronica, qui remplace la propriétaire Catherine en cas d'absence, nous attendait en bas de l'immeuble.
Elle a su répondre à toutes nos questions avec professionnalisme, sourires et gentillesse.
L'appartement est irréprochable au niveau propreté.
La décoration est choisie avec beaucoup de goût que nous avons bien aimé, cela donne un appartement très chaleureux où nous avons beaucoup apprécié : la cheminée électrique, la douche à jets, la télé avec beaucoup de chaînes, le confort de la literie et un Wifi très rapide.
La cuisine est très bien équipée : assiettes, instruments de cuisine, frigo+ petit-congel ainsi que tout le nécessaire pour vivre indépendamment dans cet appartement et préparer ainsi tous nos repas sans problème, bien que de nombreux restaurants soient à proximité, c'était notre choix, de profiter pleinement de ce bel appartement.
L'immeuble est très calme, l'appartement ne donne pas directement sur la rue , mais sur le côté piscine.
Au retour, Veronica nous a proposé le service d'un taxi qui pour le même prix qu'un taxi hélé dans la rue, nous a amenés à l'aéroport, sans que l'on ai à s'en préoccuper.
Si nous devions revenir sur Quito, nous n'hésiterons pas et reviendrons directement chez Catherine.

All the conveniences of home were in this well appointed suite.
This apartment was perfect. The decor was warm and inviting with a European flair. The building is very secure with 24 hour security personnel for your safety and comfort. The building staff was also friendly and helpful with directions. They answered other questions I had about the neighborhood. There are a couple of lavanderías within a block and everything you could want or need is furnished. I was able to prepare meals in the well equipped kitchen. The bed and bedding were very comfortable which is not always the case in Ecuador. The water was hot, hot and plentiful. There was wifi, cable TV, CD player, electric fireplace and more. A bonus was how quiet it was. You would never know you were in the middle of the Mariscal. The location has numerous restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries, and assorted shops. I found three parks within walking distance and loved walking around the area. The host was gracious and I look forward to staying here again the next time I am in Quito.

Si vas a Quito, en esta suite te sentirás muy bien
Celebramos habernos alojado en este lugar. Es una suite hermosa y muy cómoda, con amplios ambientes decorados con gusto y calidad. Todos los detalles fueron tenidos en cuenta para ofrecer una óptima estadía. La ubicación del apartamento es excelente, zona de muy buenos hoteles, restaurantes, bares y comercio de todo tipo. Mucho movimiento nocturno con tranquilidad y seguridad. Cathy, la propietaria, Moana y Patricia, han colaborado en su medida, para que hayamos pasado seis días maravillosos en la bella ciudad de Quito.

3 Days in Nice Quito apt.
Convenient location and comfortable. We had previously stayed at the Sebastian hotel, across the street. This was less expensive and offered an opportunity to prepare our own meals, a real plus after a couple of weeks on the road. Sometimes you just want to make a sandwich or a cup of tea without having to leave the apartment.

Quito Gem
After living in a condo for a month, if there are issues or problems they will appear. Our December stay at Cathy's condo proved flawless. It was as described and even more. There was nothing needed in the unit which was comfortable, cozy, quiet, safe and meticulously decorated. We felt quite at home and didn't want to leave. The location is superb with easy access to just about everything whether it be exercising, shopping, cultural venues or just enjoying an expresso on Plaza Foch while people watching in the Greenwich Village of Quito several blocks from the condo. This gem of a vacation getaway is highly recommended. Your only regret will be having to leave.

Bel appartement Tres cosy EN Plein Coeur DE Quito
Séjour d'une semaine dans ce charmant appartement tres chaleureux situé dans un quartier trés arboré jalonné de nombreux restaurants, bars, hôtels, et agréable place investie par les terrasses de cafés branchés de la ville.
Cet appartement au charme incontestable, aux couleurs du Sud et doté de tout le confort que l'on puisse espérer, du lit King Size à la cheminée écran leds (agréable pour les nuits parfois fraîches ) nous a parfaitement convenu.
C'était une première expérience de ce type dans une capitale, mais quel plaisir nous y reviendrons trés certainement lors d'un prochain séjour !

About the neighbourhood
You are in the best neighborhood you should be ! Close to parks, museums, handicraft and vegetables markets. Ideally located for those who want to study spanish . the best schools are at one or two blocks away from the condo . No need to take cab to visit this famous part of Quito . Need a laundry ? At 150 m you can deposit your bag and it will be return to you directly in the lobby of the condo ! To do shopping or only to get something to cook, walk 5 mn and you will find the"Supermaxi", big supermarket . Taxis are available day and night just down the flat . For 2USD you can have a ride all around the neighborhood and for 3USD just straight to the historical center to admire its wonderful churchs full of gold and monuments . All around are the biggest hotels in Quito, Marriott, Swiss hotel, Quito's hotel, etc... where you can rest in their spa and swim in their swimming pool . All kind of food and distractions are available in this Mariscal district from the less expensive to the most one . The Juan Leon Mera and the Reina Victoria streets are the most famous for their bars, restaurants, discotheques, shops and so on .
