'Lesser Light' is a charming cottage surrounded by flower gardens and brush, with cathedral ceilings throughout, a fully-equipped kitchen (including dishwasher), washer/dryer, and a very large, completely private deck with dining set with umbrella, two chaise lounges, a hammock, outdoor shower & gas grill. The cottage has one queen bedroom, a separate sleeping area (behind pocket doors) off the main living area with a futon (double pullout bed), and a comfortable chair in the living area. Full bathroom w/ tub/shower. 'Lesser Light' will comfortably sleep up to two couples, but is even more perfect for a couple alone or with 1-2 small children. Great getaway for a couple on Nantucket
We spent a week in this charming cottage. It was very comfortable, the amenities were fantastic, and the cottage is well-situated (mid-island) for exploring all that Nantucket has to offer. It has a remote feeling and is surrounded by small gardens with a deck that is perfect for quiet relaxation and bird watching. Two TVs with satellite reception were perfect for a couple, one of whom likes to watch sports and the other movies (like us!). The owners provide a thorough list of restaurants and possible activities (such as hiking trails). We've stayed in many vacation rentals over the years, and this was among the best.

A Peaceful Retreat
Thank you, thank you, thank you for opening up your home to our family to help us kick off our 2017 summer vacation! What a fabulous time we had. And we could not have been any luckier to have rented from such wonderful people!
From the initial booking to the safe return of our deposit--you both made every detail of our experience so delightfully seamless!
Your cottage is so quaint, cozy, quiet and surrounded by nature! Even our children enjoyed a peaceful nap in the hammock amongst the singing birds!
Thank you for your wonderful island recommendations and your incredibly generous hospitality. We’re so happy to have discovered “Lesser Light” and look forward to returning in the near future!

Island Getaway
We went for a family trip to have fun and relax and thats exactly what we did! We had the best time! It was a great location to explore all parts of the island. We would take our nightly walks with our dogs to the cranberry bogs which was amazing and convenient. Then we would head to another part of the island and come back and make a big dinner. Lesser light had everything we needed and more....... We will be back! Thanks for the wonderful memories!

Lesser Light cottage Nantucket ma
We visited Nantucket this fall. We rented this great small charming cottage in the Tom Nevers area. Very well equipped and comfortable. A large outside deck with an outdoor shower added to our experience. It was private and close to the bike path. We would definitely return to the " lesser light" cottage.

Quiet, relaxing, and just what we needed after our wedding.
After all the stress and work from getting ready for our wedding what we both wanted was a quiet and relaxing honeymoon. (we also really wanted to bring our dog) Lesser Light was exactly what we needed....a charming cottage 1 mile from a great beach. Lauren and Ron were great to rent from. They made awesome dinner recommendations and told us about the Bluff Walk in Sconset which was gorgeous.
Thank you! We had a blast calling Lesser Light and Nantucket our home for a week.

And that Bluff Walk is an amazing trek. And it's a fun detail that for no charge at all you get to share the exact views over the Cliff and to the Atlantic beyond that the billionaires who bought those fancy houses paid so many millions to ''own"). Just like the 50+ miles of public beach on the Island these are delights that we call get to share in.

Great Cottage
Lesser Light is a wonderful cottage tucked away from the crowds.
We spent a long holiday weekend there recently with our 16 month old toddler.
I highly recommend this cottage! It may be slightly more ideal for a couple or two couples looking to get away vs a family with young children.
10 minute drive to town and only a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to Sconset. Wonderful owners who are very attentive, highly recommend!

Thanks for your great review. Most people share your delight that the cottage is so private and peaceful (in an island that can get a bit hectic in high season) but that you can still get into the heart of things -- beaches, markets, shops, museums and restaurants - by a quick drive, shuttle bus ride or by bike. Charming cottage close to all that's best about Nantucket, yet private and off the beaten trail.
We loved our visit to this delightful cottage. It is comfortable and well equipped, close to the Moors, 'Sconset and Tom Nevers Beach, yet private and quiet. We loved feeding and watching a variety of songbirds that visit the feeders, star gazing, relaxing on the deck, and hiking in the nearby moors with our dogs. This vacation place is a treasure.

We're happy to provide a place where dogs, too, can enjoy good Island living. Nantucket is such a dog friendly place it would be a shame to leave them behind. And a long tramp in the nearby 'Serengeti' moors at sunset with a four legged friend - what a treat for all involved! Hope we'll see ALL of you back again next Fall.

Charming, Beautiful, and Serene Retreat
My husband and I came to this beautiful cottage with our dog Jude for our honeymoon. The cottage is private, well decorated, and the outdoor space can't be matched. We loved the location on the island and was able to enjoy all that nantucket had to offer. To top it all off, Lauren, the owner, came by to say hello and congratulated us on our marriage. The process was so easy in renting the beautiful property and we ended up booking another vacation for September before we left. We can't wait to return to this beautiful spot many more times in the future. Truly a gem on this gorgeous island.

Thanks so much for your great review. Over the years we've had Newlyweds, Honeymooners, wedding parties, BabyMooners and even a couple celebrating their dog's first birthday! We are always amazed that whenever someone mentions the best part of their holiday, it's always some unique and unexpected part of the Island that spoke most to them and made their vacation unforgettable. The Island is only 13 miles across but it seems to have enough delights that we rarely hear about the same one twice! Congratulations again on your marriage, and we hope when you visit in the Fall that you'll find even more to enjoy and want to return to.

A Secret Gem on Nantucket
Searching for a quiet and relaxing end-of-summer experience, we found Lesser Light to be the perfect home from which to explore the Serengeti, the miles of bike paths and the solitude of a nearly-deserted Tom Nevers beach. Nestled away from the road and surrounded by beautiful island foliage, the property is a delight for all the senses.
The cottage is immaculately maintained and well-appointed with an array of upscale amenities. The huge deck and outdoor shower are sheer pleasure after a bike-ride to the beach or just soaking up the sun on a quiet afternoon.
The owners are attentive and gracious, providing prompt assistance and guidance for even the smallest of issues. The only difficult part of the stay was having to pack and leave what we now consider our Nantucket home. We are looking forward to experiencing the cottage in the off-season this year and for years to come.

We have had many guests stay in 'Lesser Light' over the years and, we are pleased to say, so many of them have been happy there. But, without question, you are the very first guests to ever express your pleasure to us in a Nantucket Limerick. (Sadly, it doesn't seem appropriate to post here.) We thank you for your kind words, for your weird rhymes - but mostly we are just pleased that you were able to have such a relaxing and delightful week. There's a reason why so many Islanders say September is their favorite month of the year!

Wonderful Cottage for Nantucket Getaway!!
My boyfriend and I (and our dog, Tyson) needed to getaway from the hustle and bustle of home and we could not have picked a better place to stay! I have absolutely no complaints about this listing. It was clean and stocked with everything you would need. We got groceries the first night and spent most of our time relaxing and grilling on the deck. The location is great because it is just a short drive into town but also just far enough away to get some private time in the Tom Nevers area. We took Tyson to the beach nearby which he LOVED and we enjoyed exploring the island. Lauren and Ron were amazing in all aspects of the rental process. They were easy to reach for any questions or concerns and Lauren provided me with a ton of helpful information about the island and our stay at the cottage. I HIGHLY recommend this listing to any couple looking for some R & R. Would definitely stay here again!!
