• CASA NICU • The Methuselah among our cottage rentals has seen 120 years passing by without being overly impressed. During extensive renovations we left the basic substance untouched, and now the breath of the past still blows through the patient walls. So, this farmhouse is a good choice for whoever enjoys something special and wants to add a touch of Transylvanian serenity to their holiday experience. The property is located in the pastoral village of Vale, directly at the feet of the Carpathian Mountains. On the one hand, far away from the pulse of time, on the other hand just around the corner from Sibiu, the European Capital of Culture 2007. The property is located in the pastoral village of Vale, directly at the feet of the Carpathian Mountains. On the one hand, far away from the pulse of time, on the other hand just around the corner from Sibiu, the European Capital of Culture 2007. The village is nestled between the wooded mountains overlooking the Transylvanian plain - in an absolutely peaceful spot with no through traffic. After a few steps you already find yourself in the oldest beech forest of the continent, and hiking towards the mountain pastures you will experience a unique flora and fauna. Alternatively, benefit from our central location in the heart of Romania and explore sights and trips in all directions. Take a break and treat yourself to a place where unspoiled nature meets the breath of the past. ___________________________________________________________________. ••• CASA NICU •••. Viewed from the outside, this farmhouse is certainly not the only eye-catcher in Transylvania. But whoever crosses the threshold will feel and see its uniqueness. We handled every square meter with attention to detail and respect towards its builders and the traditional style of the area. The living quarters are located upstairs. A staircase leads out to the hallway, which was added to the house in a typical way. Both the shower room (2 sqm) and the eat-in kitchen (14 sqm) are entered through the hallway. The kitchen is completely equipped for self-catering, with a fridge, gas stove, coffee maker, and espresso machine, as well as a toaster, kettle, spices, washing machine and more. Upon request, we provide you with breakfast, traditional menus or farm products from the village. The room (18 sqm) is entered through the kitchen. It features a double bed, TV set (Astra Satellite), Wi-Fi internet access, and plants. Three windows open the room and the view onto the village’s rooftops. An extra bed is available. On arrival, you will find the bed freshly made, and hand and bath towels, shower gel, and soap are also available. The entire interior was chosen with care and is of high quality, including kitchen and sanitation facilities, linen, and mattress. To heat the rooms, you use the water-bearing tiled stove that also supplies all the radiators in the premises. Additionally, an electrical infrared panel will start up at no additional costs for you. The enclosed courtyard is a leafy feast for the eyes. Here you can relax on a covered terrace, uncork a bottle of wine or unpack the card game. Or walk a few steps to the slope above the village, enjoy the vastness of the valley, and you'll be surprised about the thoughts popping up in your mind out of nowhere. • Transylvania holiday farmhouse, sleeps 2 (up to 3) • 1 room, 1 eat-in kitchen, 1 shower room • Covered patio in the courtyard • Minimum stay: 3 - 5 nights (seasonal) • Extra bed for a third person: € 10/night ____________________________________________________________________. ••• We offer more than just accommodation ••• • Transfer from the Sibiu airport or railway station is included, and a reliable rental car is available directly from us. • On request, our cook provides breakfast or swings the wooden spoon. She conjures traditional menus fresh to the table by appointment - each gram of meat a product of her own livestock farming. Vegetarian? No problem. • Also available are farm products from the village, such as fresh milk, goat or sheep's cheese, forest honey and homemade jam, zakusca, pickled vegetables, wine and schnaps. • On request: baby cot, high chair, rides in a donkey cart for children, grocery shopping prior to your arrival. • Tip: Excursion in a horse-drawn cart to the mountains. The tour can take a few hours or an entire day. On the way, you stop at a creek and Nicu (our Carpathian specialist) prepares a shepherd goulash in the kettle on the camp fire. ____________________________________________________________________. ••• The village of Vale •••. … is out in the sticks, in the middle of nowhere. On the other hand, the freeway that brings all sights of Transylvania closer to you is only 5 km away. A tarmac road touches on the village, but in large parts, it’s cobblestone roads and dirt trails leading up into the wooded hills. Thus, traditional structures and straightforward hospitality still hold up in Vale. Horses, cows and goats are still part of the village landscape, and the farmers take up their scythes and plant corn, potatoes, and vegetables to provide for the winter. There is a children's playground and a small grocery store at the village square. The town of Saliste 2 km away offers more shops, a farmer's market and an ATM cash machine. Whatever you miss here can be found in Sibiu 20 km away at the Cibin Market, in retail stores, or supermarkets such as Real, Carrefour and Lidl. Some say that the Romanian countryside appears frozen in time. It is unique and mostly untouched and the breath of the past hides in every corner. Maybe you'll sense the charm of the extraordinary, perceiving what life was like before it was leveled by the advance of civilization. Until then, take a good look around. Heists and highway robberies are tales from the long-gone years of turmoil following the political change in Romania, and Count Dracula obviously exists only in movies. Most people in these parts are open-minded and very friendly when met with respect, , and many of them speak English, making communication easy. Read more below for an overview of the sights in the area, plus a pinch of Transylvanian history. ____________________________________________________________________. ••• We are no trained tourism experts ••• We live in Vale and have joined together in a small and family-type construction company, which all the holiday cottages were built by. After eight years of work - with many possibilities for creative design - we cast the trowels and planning aside for a while and took a deep breath. From the income generated by the houses (your money), on the one hand the 'investor' is served. On the other hand, administration and care-taking yield a secure income for several families. When we cook for you, or when you order local products or go shopping in the local grocery, also a number of other villagers have a benefit. Finally, we are planning a soup kitchen for the less well-off families in the village which will also be financed from the proceeds of our holiday homes. We nurture a climate of openness and equality-based relationships. ____________________________________________________________________. ••• We provide more than just a cottage ••• With our construction company, we have given five houses a complete overhaul or built them from scratch. With attention to detail all along, with respect towards the traditional style of the area, as well as with a view to modern building materials and contemporary housing needs. The result is an encounter of different ages and cultures in five oases of wellbeing, each of them with their own flair, distinctive and special in a place which – we hope – will be sidestepped by the world's hustle for a long time to come. • VILLA CRINA • our jewel with 200 sqm of living space and terraced garden – sleeps 8. • CASA PELU • the former farmhouse with extended loft and roof terrace – sleeps 6. • CASA NICU • 120-year-old cottage with the appropriate historic flair – sleeps 2-3. • VILLA ZOLLO • 150 sqm holiday home with panoramic views and large garden – sleeps 6-8. • Studio ZOLLO II • well equipped apartment with a terrace, BBQ and garden – sleeps 2-3. • COZO FANTU • our shepherd’s hut in the mountain pastures – sleeps 4. A total of 12 rooms are endowed with double beds, WiFi internet access, TV (Astra satellite), and plants. Some properties feature a garden and living room with a fireplace, and all of them provide a kitchen fully equipped for self-catering, as well as 1-4 bathrooms, a washing machine, and at least one terrace. The central heating facilities (most of them solar-assisted) are powered by water-bearing fireplaces, tiled stoves or gas heaters. In addition, nearly all of the rooms are equipped with infrared panels. Interested in another accommodation? You can find them all via the link below. .

Casa Zollo II is worth a trip!
The Location is beautiful, clean kitchen with everthing u need to cook ur meals, well organized garden and a lovely fireplace for some late hour chilling after roaming and hiking arround in the Hills and Mountains beside with a breathtaking view in the landscape. Also the service from the Local Guide Nicu was excellent, picked us up anywhere etc and brought us homemade wine, some goat cheese and honey. One thing to keep in mind, there is apparently no bus going anywhere, and only 2 trains a day a little bit further away. So u should better get urself a car or rent a bike if u want to go anywhere else.

Heel Fijn huis, in practice omgeving

Sehr empfehlenswert / Highly recommendable

Perfect starting point for a hiking week in the Carpathians
We: two People and one little dog were the second time in Vale and first time in Casa Nicu. It is the perfect place for a relaxing week in the Carpathians. The lovingly restored, perfectly equipped and very clean old cottage is a cozy home on time. From here you can go in all directions hikes and do excursions. In the warm October light we walked through the beautiful colors of the autumnal Carpathian mountainsides. We visited historical churche castles or the lively cultural capital of Europe Sibiu and after long eventful days was time to relax by the crackling fire of the tiled stove. From the booking to the arrival in the already pre-heated accommodation until the farewell, the owner team cared for us very well. Thank you very much Werner and Nicu. We'll come back again...

Alles super sauber.

Sehr schöner Urlaub in gemütlicher gut ausgerüsteter Wohnung

About the neighbourhood
You just have to leave the cottage and you wander through the oldest beech forest in Europe. The historic old town of Sibiu is only 20 km away, and via the nearby motorway you can quickly reach the Dracula Castle, Sighisoara or fortified churches in every second village in Transylvania. Breakfast and traditional menus are served by our cook directly on the table. Alternatively you can choose between two good restaurants 2-3 km away and pizza from the stone oven, which is also delivered. There is a children's playground and a small grocery store at the village square. The town of Saliste 2 km away offers more shops, a farmer's market and an ATM cash machine. Whatever you miss here can be found in Sibiu in retail stores, or supermarkets.
