Perfect
This is our third visit to The Hidden Garden Villa, it is a perfect location, quiet and private, yet close enough to the town for shopping, eating out and travelling around without the need for a car. The villa itself is lovely, a beautifully decorated home, not just a holiday villa. We can't fault anything about our stay and would love to come back again! Thank you :)

Beautifully relaxing
We returned to this villa having had a wonderful two weeks here last year and found it as beautiful as before. It is delighfully secluded yet within just a few minutes walk of all amenities, bars, restaurants, beach, shops and supermarkets. Also being so close to the dolmus station it is easy to take trips around the peninsula. We visited Torba, Gumusluk, Akyarlar and Bitez. We also went on a trip to Dalyan a really beautiful experience sailing down the river. To avoid having to visit gold factories or leather shops, we found a hotel which had a Thomson's agent with whom we booked. It was a bit more expensive but worth it as the day was not so long and we were not pressured by salespeople. James the owner looked after us very well, meeting us on arrival and providing a very welcome 'Welcome Pack'. Turgutreis is full of restaurants to suit all tastes from McDonalds to bring your own fish. It is a perfect place to relax and we would heartily recommend Turgutreis and particurlarly The Hidden Garden Villa.

The perfect hidden retreat...
As always we spend quite a lot of time researching holiday destinations, as the two week break away from the stresses & strains of life mean so much to us, and we found this wonderful little gem. Before I forget, you don't need a car if you stay here, as everything is on the doorstep, and if you do want to explore the are there are buses, taxi's & car hire places within 5 minutes walk. There also several large supermarkets nearby which stock everything you could possibly want. The owner James lives not far away and is the perfect host. We met him the first day we arrived and he provided us with a wealth of information about where to eat, what to visit and what was available in the area. Thank you James as you certainly got our trip off to a flying start. From the moment you arrive you are met with tranquility and beauty. The property is located about 5 minutes walk from the seafront but located in a quiet cul de sac. It is quiet and you won't be disturbed. You enter via the gate and are immediately immersed in a tropical citrus paradise with tangerine and pomegranate trees around you. Look out for Fred & Ginger the tortoises who reside there. They are quite partial to cucumber and lettuce & extremely friendly ! The swimming pool is a real bonus as it certainly gets warm by lunchtime. We were there for the first two weeks in September and there was never a cloud in the sky and lunchtime temperatures were pushing 36 degrees ! The shaded patio area is also a bonus. Whether you want to sit in peace & quiet, enjoy a meal or just escape the sun it is a welcome haven. There is a gas barbeque for those of you wishing to participate. The accommodation is first class and if it was a hotel I have no doubt it would be 5 star. The kitchen is kitted with everything that you would want to self cater without any issues. There is a dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, washing machine and plenty of cutlery & utensils. The property comprises two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The bathrooms are brand new and very luxurious with plenty of hot water and water pressure in the showers. The beds are very simply 'very comfortable'. There really is everything you could want at the property. If it's not there you probably won't need it. It was perfect retreat for us & without a doubt we would recommend it to anyone.

Heaven!
Thank you James for a perfect stay! The villa is truly beautiful. I searched for a villa that would be completely private and that's exactly what we got! The pool is a brilliant size. We had lots of fun on the air-beds (provided) and playing with the beach ball. The dominos (provided) were great too thank you. There are lots of books provided. We left two behind for future guests. The villa is immaculate with lots of towels provided. The beds are extremely comfortable. The pillows are better than ours at home! The air conditioning is incredible both downstairs and upstairs but we mainly used the large fan. The dishwasher and washing machine were very helpful. I washed all my clothes before coming home. They dry outside within minutes and there's even a clothes airer provided. The sounds from the mosque were beautiful. The gardens are very pretty. You see lots of butterflies and red and purple dragonflies. It took us approx 8 minutes to walk to the Marina. Please try "Barcelona restaurant". Their steak with mushroom sauce is to die for! Our favourite bar down the Marina was "Azo Bar". We went there almost every night. The funniest friendliest staff who are dancing all night and going out of their way to look after you. James attends the pool and purposely picks times and dates to suit you. I texted him a few times for advice (changing money etc) and he replied within minutes. He has a love of art and antiques and everything in the Villa has it's own story. Fred & Ginger the tortoises are brilliant. They move very fast and love cucumber and lettuce. Please feed them. Enjoy your stay - welcome to heaven x

A great place to relax and unwind
This was my 5th consecutive year at this villa and once again I was not disappointed. The villa has had some improvements over last year that have made it a little more comfortable and the gardens have matured well to maintain the hidden nature of the garden and the guests privacy. The gardens, terrace and pool are the feature that make this villa special. The privacy of the place along with the pool make this a great place to simply relax and unwind but if you want more its just 1o minutes down the road to the town centre, tourists strip and beaches where you can go boating or paragliding etc. The local seafood restaurants offer good food at a good price. James the owner is a great host. He is available if you need him and no request is too much. This villa is my choice location for a quiet relaxing holiday, where I can eat on the terrace, cool down in the pool and read books or chill out whilst taking in the sun without the world intruding any more than I want it too. Its a rare find and many of those who found like me return again.

Perfect...yet again!
As with other repeat visitors I am reluctant to share my experience for fear that the villa will become too popular for us to re-book!! This was our second year and we absolutely love it. The villa is superb, this year with an improved downstairs shower room. The town has everything that we want, the shops and restaurants are excellent. The airport transfer is brilliant and reliable as you don't need a car at all whilst staying here. James is a wonderful host , the reason we like the villa so much is because of the privacy and that is exactly what we get, roll on next year :)

Absolute heaven, best holiday in 20 years, already re-booked
i have some reservations about writing this review as I know it will make the villa more difficult for us to book in years to come and i know we will want to return again and again. Booking Process.- i was a little concerned at making direct payment to James for final payment as the deposit was via PayPal, but i needn't have been concerned, this all went smoothly. Transfers_ we booked this through Annie and all went smoothly a lovely minibus taxi, air conditioned, massive comfy seats and water for the drive, which was smooth and safe, arrived dead on time at the villa for our return journey again perfect transfer to the door of Bodrum airport. The Villa- is wonderful, very pretty gardens fantastic pool, so warm and we went at start of the season, Fred and Ginger far more speedy and visible than i expected great fun ti feed and watch. the outside areas are where we spent all of our time and this is lovely lots of sunshine and shade if yu prefer, comfy cushions lots of candles for the evenings available and outside lights if you prefer. although neighbors are close on one side, James has shielded the garden well and we felt completely private. inside the villa is lovely, we used the downstairs bedroom as beds a bit bigger upstairs is a normal double and also we found the upstairs shower small. the bathrooms are beautiful and the downstairs shower is lovely.as the weather was so hot when we traveled we didnt spend any real time inside the villa except to shower and sleep, but everything worked well, and kitchen equipment glasses plates etc all really nice and plentiful. The Villa is at the end of a cul de sac right on the edge of town past the Dolmus station, i am far from fit and i walked into town in 10 minutes without any trouble, the market on Saturday is only 5 minutes walk away and here you have the start of shops and bars so if you want a drink halfway to town its available. Also just before the Dolmus station was a small restaurant on one side of the road and a hairdressers opposite, the hairdressers was excellent as i have have long thick hair i was able to wash and condition get ready for the evening with wet hair and walk to the hairdressers where i had it blow dried into straight or curly style for just 15 Lira Approx £3.25, they also do all beauty treatments. The town itself is wonderful, people so friendly, bars and restaurants cheap and plentiful, food of really good quality, some of our favorites where Nazars, la Pikant on the sea front, Azos bar, Osmans. we also enjoyed the fish alley restaurants and ate at a couple of these, bery good. Was disappointed with speed of service at Uncles but food and location good and we received free drink when we complained, sunset restaurant wouldn't bother, we heard good things about la villa and cool breeze but never got round to trying them, we will do next year as have already booked to return. Finally James, honestly couldn't wish to meet a nicer more helpful man he is rightly proud of the villa and on hand for any issues which may come up, we had a heavenly two weeks , thanks you so much for sharing yur beautiful home with us, see you next year. Angela & Ron.

Thank you and we will welcome you back next season! We do know you enjoyed your stay at Hidden Garden because as you mention, you already booked again for 2016, and so have some other 2015 guests! We also know you were apprehensive about making your final payment direct to the owner's account but you now know our booking and payment process is safe and reliable. 2015 is our 10th year of renting and we've never experienced any payment issues, all payments received are confirmed. We did understand your concern, especially considering some reports in the press recently. Hidden Garden is the most popular villa we rent with many repeat guests returning year after year, yourselves included. Fred/Ginger, James and ourselves do our best to ensure guests get the holiday they expect.. by all accounts we appear to be getting it right! See you in 2016, Annie.

Beautiful villa for a relaxing holiday
We were a party of three, myself , my husband and a friend, all in our sixties. The location was perfect in a quiet area but an easy walk on the flat into the centre and all amenities. We particularly appreciated being near to the dolmus station from where we could travel to Bodrum and other nearby resorts. Gumusluk was our favourite, lovely seafood and beautiful views. Turgutreis town centre maintains its Turkish character and the people are very friendly and helpful. We had very good food at La Villa and one of our favourite spots to watch the spectacular sunset was the appropriately named Sunset bar. The villa was everything it claims on the website, very clean and relaxing with lots of lovely ornaments. The gardens were beautiful with two friendly tortoises. James was very helpful and accommodating, providing us with a welcome package as we were arriving late at night and meeting our taxi to show us the way at that late hour. We hope to return sometime as this was one of the best vacations we have had.

A very nice and quiet place to stay
This was our second time in Turgutreis and we absolutly wanted to book the same house. We are a family with a 7 years old boy. The house is very well located, in a quiet area of the city but very close to everything you need. The beach, shops, restaurants and supermarkets are all by 5 to 10 minutes walk and no car is required. In addition, local buses can take you to Bodrum and the nearby cities for a very small amont of liras. The house is surrounded by a beautiful garden with many fruit trees and flowers, and is not overlooked by the neighbours so you can enjoy staying on the terrasse or swimming in the pool with no problem of privacy. The pool is wide and not too deep, it is in the sun for the most part of the day. Our son loved to stay in for hours! The house is confortable, fournished with taste and well equipped. The owner is constantely willing to make improvements, for an example this year we found a very nice new bathroom. Annie at Peninsulavillacare.com is very efficient and can manage to book your transfer or hire a car if you wish. I totally recommand this place, and as several guests do, we have already book it for next year.

About the neighbourhood
Turgutreis, on the Bodrum Peninsula, is named after Admiral Turgut Reis who was born in the village of Karabag which overlooks Turgutreis on the hillside above the town and where there is a statue to the Admiral in the village square. Turgut Reis was also known as 'Dragut' he died of his wounds at the siege of Malta on 23rd June 1563. The town holds a three day festival around June 23rd each year, when Turkish navel warships visit the bay and military bands and entertainers hold concerts in Ataturk Square. There are large supermarkets and numerous local shops. There is also a new marina opened in 2005 which houses a string of bars and restaurants, cafes and shops. You also have an open air cinema where you can sit back and enjoy a movie while sipping a cocktail or beer etc. Turgutreis is a quieter option to the more touristy resorts close by such as Bodrum, Bitez and Gumbet. There is a good beach and as it is on the tip of the Bodrum peninsula the water quality is very good due to the currents passing through between the headland and adjacent islands. The Greek islands of Kos, Pserimos and Kalymnos are close by and from June to October the ferry leaves Turgutreis for day visits to Kos (takes 45 mins). In Turgutreis petty crime is almost nil. The town is safe and even walking around the markets there is a feeling of security. Buildings in Turgutreis are almost exclusively low rise meaning the view to the water is unimpeded from many places in the town. To the tourist, the town has three main areas: 1: The beach 2: The square beside the mosque and the seaside restaurants. 3: The backstreet and market shopping. The beach itself is a slim sandy beach not overly long and yet never too crowded even in August. The beaches are operated by the restaurant behind and all sunbeds are free. The standard of service on the beach is superb with all restaurants employing staff to work the beach. Turning up to the beach, you will be greeted by friendly faces keen to find the sunbeds and parasols of your choosing and locate them to the patch of sand you most want to settle on. There is an etiquette here. These beach boys will work hard to make your day pleasant and genuinely do care. The etiquette is that you will buy your drinks from the restaurant serving you - simple manners really. I found that the service was not at all pushy and the drinks, being so reasonably priced were quite pleasant on the beach. The square in the centre of town is stunning and comes alive at night. On one side are the boats with their captains constantly encouraging custom. The prices of the boat rides really are superb. A whole day out on the water calling in on little islands to swim in the sea and snorkel with fishes costs approx £12.00 for an adult. This price is a full day trip with lunch included. On the other side of the square is the mosque and the run of restaurants along the front. All these eateries are superb but when visiting it becomes easy to get hooked into one place due to the excellent standard of service. The back streets and Saturday market are buzzing with places to eat and drink cheaply and bargains to be had. The rule here is always haggle. Do it politely and you will be well received. Most places settle on a price about three quarters of the list price. Local buses ( Dolmus ) go to most local villages as well as Bodrum and are a cheap way of getting around. Other towns worth a visit by bus are Yalikavak, Gundgoan, Gumusluk, Akyarlar, Karaincir and buses to these run about every 20 mins or so until late at night.
