Villa Tonka is situated out of the town on a peaceful and sunny slope above the town center. You will enjoy a beatiful view of the whole town of Makarska as well as the islands Hvar and Brac. The house is located below the old hamlet called Makarska at the bottom of the Biokovo mountain so that you can always enjoy climbing or walking in a peaceful and beautiful surrounding.
Villa Tonka is surrounded by olive and pine trees and You will definitely enjoy silence and quietness. You can only hear birds waking You up in the morning.

Lovely place with stunning views
We arrived in Makarska by hire car, when Marija emails you her number and offers to meet you and guide you in take this up as finding the villa is somewhat of a challenge and google maps will not help lol. The Villa is located right above the town on the lower slopes of the mountain, whilst the distance from the town centre is probably only 1 -1.5km it is insainly steep and a hire car is recomened. The views however are totally stunning and can be seen from all three of the hire appartments and the pool. We rented the smallest (yellow) appartment for 1 week. We put our 5 year old son on the sofa bed in the living room and we had the bedroom. The appartment was clean, bright and modern with a well equipt little kitchen, nice clean bathroom and superb balcony with views of the town, Bikovo mountain and the islands of Brac and Hvar out to sea, this was shaded up until 11am where it got the full force of the sun. The appartment also had good free air con and excelent free wifi for whatsapping and skype. Marija and Toni were very friendly and helpful and having four children themselves were understanding. The pool is lovely getting the sun all day long, the same views from our balcony could also be seen here and the whole week i never tired of them, next to the pool is the familys vegatable garden which was nice too. This place seems to be a secret to Brits as the other guests were from Belgium and Poland, not once in Makarska did i hear a British voice, everyone was so welcoming and friendly, especially the Croats that we met.
The only down sides were that in peak season June-August Makarska and Dalmatia is very busy and the roads during the day can become rather clogged due to the volume of traffic. Added to this is that the shows and the discos in the town can go on until 4am, althought Villa Tonka is around 1.5km away from the harbour front the harmonics created by the mountain can sometimes make the DJ seem like he is on the balcony. All in all I would gladly go back to Makarska and Villa Tonka and would recommend it to my friends and family.
